Re: Heater Core Leak?

Thanks for sharing the wisdom.

When you are changing the coolant, the factory manual indicates you
need to "open the breather crew in hose to heater core"

This step is common to several foreign makes - my Fiat Spider was like
this. When you're replacing the coolant, you can have pockets of air
get trapped. Since air will not compress (under the weight of the
coolant) you will top up to the radiator neck before all the air is
taken out.

Do you have the Auxiliary heater for the rear? If so, I'd warm up the
van and turn on all heaters at the same time and verify you are full of
coolant.

I do not think it is the heater core. If it was it would leak all the
time, not just when the heater is on. More likely they did not get all
the air out or did not tighten something and caused a leak.

Please watch out if you try and bleed the air out. There is a bleed
vent on one of the coolant lines behind the engine. The bleed valve
screw is PLASTIC and is very easily damaged. And the screw is not
avail
as a seperate part. You will have to buy a new hose for about $60.
Guess why I know this.
