As soon as I take it out of park it smooths out, but if its been sitting for a few days it takes a couple of minutes to warm up and it really feels like it's going to stall (no power to the brakes or steering until it smooths out). I just replaced the ignition switch last week and the only other repairs the mechanic recommended were to the exhaust system. I have a feeling that's what's causing it, but I don't want to spend any more money right now if I can avoid it. I took care of replacing the EVAP canister and valves (in addition to that ignition switch and serpentine belt) but I figured I'd delay the rest of the exhaust system stuff until it either fails smog inspection or the engine light goes on and it triggers codes. If yours isn't idling rough like mine, it could just be the ignition switch. My ignition switch troubles began just like yours, and eventually the "sweet spot" in the key position got so small that I barely got it started to take it to the mechanic. The funny thing is that once it's warmed up, it is sooooo smooth and perfect. Typical VW/Audi. ;) On Aug 28, 2011, at 1:20 AM, Ryan Biesack wrote: Hi All,of the day. It either has been necessary to hold the key engaged in the starting position longer than usual, or if out of habit i disengage the key from the start position and just start again, will fire right up. This only happens after the van has been parked 12+ hours. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
