Dear EuroVaneers:
We (family of four) just replaced our '84 Westfalia with a '95 GLS.
Although we (the older son and I) are still getting over the separation,
I am growing to like this new beast. Doesn't have the same 'float' the
Vanagon had on the highway, but more than makes up for it with handling
and power. One day there will be another Vanagon for me, but it will be
air-cooled! :)
Should I purchase an extended warranty? I am well aware that a new
tranny can cost thousands of dollars, but it is it something that many
people have had to replace or fix? The current tech thread is the fuel
line question, but are there EV powertrain problems that I might be able
to protect myself against with an ext.warranty?
I welcome any input; I'm also glad to have found a friendly space for EV
drivers!
