Based on discussions in the electric vehicles
list, it sounds like a new less expensive version
similar to the Lemco 130 or 170(?) will be
available.<br><br><a href= target=new></a><br><br>"This motor was designed by LEMCO and the design and
rights to manufacture were purchased by Briggs. This
motor is being manufactured offshore for cost reasons.
LEMCO retained the right to market this motor to the
aftermarket."<br><br><a href= target=new>
MSCSSID=&MB=&EPAGE=/main/RealBriggs/WebSite/NA/EN/new_products/etek.mb&l=0</a><br><br>"[Lawrence] talked to tech support at Briggs & Stratton. They
said Columbia ParCar and others will handle
distribution. The price is supposed to be $550 for motor and
controller. He also told [Lawrence] that they would produce
50,000 units the first
year."<br><br><a href= target=new></a><br><br>From the sketchy information provided (48 Volts, 2.7
Hp continuous,12 HP peak), it appears as if this is
a smaller motor then the Lemco 200. The pictures
make it appear identical to the WEV-200 (except for
aluminum fins on the outside) that Wilde Evolutions
markets, although it appears to be a lower rating and no
info is provided on frame
size.<br><a href= target=new></a><br><br>I have been looking for the smaller Lemco motors
(no one imports them to the US), since the 200 is
expensive, and is bigger then I needed in a small boat. If
this new motor is similar to the Lemco 130 or 170, it
probably would be the perfect size for a small boat. The
only advantage of the 200 would be the larger frame
size gives it a lower speed at lower voltages,
eliminating the need for any type of reduction gears (24
Volts = 4 HP = 1300 rpm)<br><br>If these other
distributors becomes a reality, hopefully we will soon see
some nice aftermarket discounts. $550 WITH a
controller (wonder what type?) is a great
price.<br><br><a href= target=new></a>
