I could really use some quick
help/advice/opinions here.... please!

The story is that I am
just about to plunk down my hard earned cash on a new
18' Premier manufactured pontoon boat and the
marina/dealer has told me that they plan to put a Ray Electric
Outboard on the boat for me to comply with my "electric
only" lake. I don't know if this is a good thing or
not.

More info.... The boat runs about $7,500 and the motor
is about $2,300. I am pretty happy with my boat
selection and like the layout better than the Duffy and
ElectraCraft electric pontoon boats. Several people at my lake
have the Duffy boats and like them, but the $16,000
price tag seemed too much in comparison. Any thoughts
yet? As far as the motor, several people at my lake,
also have Playbuoy pontoon boats with Ray motors and
seem to like those. The motor I was looking at was the
200 series, which is the standard 36 Volt, 6
batteries, 2.5 rated HP. They also have the 48 Volt (4.0
rated HP) and 60 Volts (5.0 rated HP), but I have heard
that the speed increase for the additional dollar cost
is not there (i.e. the boat goes 7mph instead of
standard 6mph). Any thoughts yet? Finally, the marina guy
said that the boat has a charger that permits the
bateries to charge while it runs, like a car does, so the
batteries do not need to be recharged at night, etc. I did
not know this was possible - did I misunderstand him?
Please help me out with your thoughts. Any responses
will be greatly appreciated.

I am so excited
about becoming a boater!

Ed.
