Aloha Gabriella..it won't be long and you too
will sailing along gently generating enough energy to
run the blender and whippin up some umbrella drinks.
And I hope i'm there with you! I like to personnaly
go on the exotic installs.I would be glad to give
everyone the details on my electric boats. A picture of
the Casey is in the club album. She is a 1939 Casey
built in Mystic Conneticut.Displacement
20,000lbs..32ft.on deck and 28ft AWL. Cutter Rigged with roller
furling jib and loose footed outside mast roller furling
main. It has been electric for 4 years with the first 3
being battery only(operated off regeneration only) and
for the past year she has been a diesel electric
hybrid with a 4 KW FischerPanda generator. I have
several thousand hours on her because of her use as the
company test bed. The production motor that is in her now
has had about 1000 hours on it.Approximately half of
those hours are regeneration time. It has run for up to
120 hours continuously without stopping(no big feat
for an electric motor). It burns a pint of fuel every
three hours and will run quietly off of batteries for 3
hours at hull speed. The motor is a Solomon 6 hp
NdFeBoron 1000rpm 35 ftlb torque 3phase PWM Brushless DC
pushing an 18"12pitch three blade prop that was original
equipment. The boat also has a DC-DC converter(120vdc to
12vdc) and a 120vdc charger from ElectroCraft. We are
installing a 3KW 120vdc inverter from FischerPanda. There
you have it.
