Re: Home made CM119A board testing
The Windows command processor seems to be truncating the device path at the & character. Try quoting the device path like this: cm108?

Home made CM119A board testing
Patrick, I wrote a simple bash script that controls a gpio for a CM108 here: https://github.com/nwdigitalradio/n7nix/blob/master/deviation/usb_ptt.sh /Basil n7nix

Home made CM119A board testing
Hi all, I've developped an interface board we want to use on our local repeater network with the Asterisk software. It is build around a CM119A. I'm looking for a way to test the different GPIO ports

Hello John, If you research the archives here and many other forums, you'll find a LOT of other users having lots of different issues including: - inconsistent input and output audio levels during

Re: Slow PTT Release
Hi, If I can get them working A-OK, I'll stick with them. Once STE was disabled, I ran several tests and I'm getting no missed packets. Not sure how it will fare when it's plugged into an X-30, but

They may be low quality.... But you just solved your problem, and effectively showed that all the "Baofeng is garbage and doesn't work for packet" was far more unfounded bias against what is seen as

Re: Slow PTT Release
That's not the case here - radios based on the RDA1846(S) chips have a feature that uses a CTCSS tone to signal end of transmission, so compatible radios can mute the receiver and avoid the squelch

Hi, It was on by default. I didn't know it was there to switch on hehehe Mat. Cheers Dana, that was it!!! Disabling STE cured it :) I Feel a bit of a fool for not spotting that in the manual :) I will

Re: Slow PTT Release
I believe this is a feature of the RDA1846 and not unique to Baofeng; it's up to the firmware developer of each radio to set the default state for this. If I recall correctly, I discovered this in a

Re: Slow PTT Release
Have you made sure to disable "Squelch Tail Elimination" on the radio ? https://ham.stackexchange.com/a/3807 It may be enabled by default. 73, Dana? K6JQ

Re: Slow PTT Release
Hi, I don't have the PTT-ID enabled but cheers for the heads up. It's quite ironic that my main rig is a FT911-A (that's doing just fine) , but I can't dedicate that for my packet node. Cheers, Mat.

Re: Slow PTT Release
Hi, I agree with what your both saying, but I'm setting up a node that will probably never get used (so I can learn). I'm in the UK so there is not the enthusiasm for packet that you are accustomed to

Please review the archives about all kinds of issues with using Baofeng radios with packet radio. There was a very recent post where one person just swapped out his Baofeng radio and all of his issues

Re: Slow PTT Release
You're running into one of numerous, and somewhat unpredictable, timing issues with the Baofeng radio. They are not suitable for packet radio, find a used "brand name" radio and use that instead. I

Re: Slow PTT Release
If you do a little research you find the Baofeng is not a good radio for packet, you can probably find a older/used radio with the packet connector which will serve you much better. -- John D. Hays

Hi, I'm a packet newbie and I've got direwolf working (have to say, the manual is very good :) ). I'm using USB serial PTT control with a Baofeng - PTT is quick at TX, no problems there, but a bit
