Re: Is There a Modern Packet Radio BBS
From what I understand, Direwolf does not offer connection services, everything is UNPROTO, or broadcast in nature with no error correction. 73 DE Charles, N5PVL

Re: Is There a Modern Packet Radio BBS
Yes, although I was going to use linpac or a equivalent to connect though DW to the node.

Re: Is There a Modern Packet Radio BBS
That could be confusing. So here's a diagram. Desktop - Some BBS or Node App - DW - Audio Link Cables Laptop -> linpac or equivalent - DW - Audio Link Cables

Re: Is There a Modern Packet Radio BBS
I have successfull used on both ends for various digital modes: Computer - FLdigi - DW - Audio Link Cables And for unproto packet chat: Computer - Beacon Wrapper Script - DW - Audio Link Cables

Re: Is There a Modern Packet Radio BBS
Sure but in some respects, Linpac can act as a node! --David

Re: Is There a Modern Packet Radio BBS
DIrewolf fully supports connected mode via the KISS interface but I can confirm it doesn't support connected mode via AGW/PE. --David

BPQ, or properly, linbpq BPQ32 https://sites.google.com/site/bpq32wiki/ Very featuer rich. Supports B2, RMS Gateway, node, chat, mail, etc etc. SMTP gateway if you are daring, AX/IP. It INCLUDES

Re: Dire Wolf version 1.1 BETA TEST is now available for testing and Setting null modem causes digipeat
Unable to take advantage of the "-p" option without an extra mkiss before the kissattach. I opted for a socat before using the TCP:8001 connectivity. Either works fine. Odd errors at startup, like:

Ubuntu 10.04
Gents, It appears DW is successfully compiling and installing, but when I run the program, it terminates because of a buffer overflow and gives me a crash dump. Is there a quick fix for this

Re: Ubuntu 10.04
That's a very old version of Ubuntu. Have you kept it up to date.

Good question. RMSE allows KISS now. Is that what you mean?

Re: Ubuntu 10.04
No...... and there is a reason for that. It is actually a *new* install on a Pentium M laptop that does NOT support PAE. Thus, I need to use v 10.04. What has not been visible to the list is that I

Re: Ubuntu 10.04
Hey Chuck, Btw.. it's NOT too difficult to build your own kernel for Ubuntu that includes PAE support. Even more ironic, I learned that Pentium-M laptops actually *DO* support the PAE instruction

Re: Ubuntu 10.04
I'll look into this more. I had been experimenting with the latest distro using -forcepae but was not impressed with the instability. Thus, I went to the earlier version. Now that I'm a couple

Re: Ubuntu 10.04
May want to try 14.04 if you had tried 14.10. 14.04 is a long term support version and by extension is supposed to be more stable. I run both and cannot tell a difference, but none of my HW is that

Re: Ubuntu 10.04
So, I ended-up loading Puppy Linux tahrPuppy (6.0.1) to another hard drive. There was a no-PAE ISO. Loaded real nice. I added the devx iso so I could have the C compiler. Then loaded DW. Nice

Interface DireWolf to existing KISS TNC?
I've been away from APRS for quite a while and I just found this software and started looking at it, and it looks really nice. One thing I'm not real clear on though is whether or not I am limited to

Re: Interface DireWolf to existing KISS TNC?
Direwolf's AGWPE Api support is limited to unconnected / UI packets only. That works for for APRS but not for connected sessions to say packet bbses, pbbs's, etc. Ldsped's api support does support

Questions from a potential user.
Hi All, I got a Raspberry Pi B+ for Christmas and want to use it as a dual TNC so I can do crossband digipeating, etc. I'm also hoping to run BroadBand Hamnet on it at the same time, so I can

Re: Questions from a potential user.
Erik, If you look in the text of the config file for direwolf (as well as the nice users guide), I think you will find that a single stereo sound card can manage two channels in direwolf. This may
