Similar background, I was programming CNC lathes via a punch tape typewriter.
You make an error and basically it was start all over again. Splicing paper tapes together never worked for me.
At about the same time, my company invested in a IBM 381 ? replacing the dual floppy drive computer,?
and we were all saying at that time who wants 40K of hard disc storage.
How times change, so glad I just go with the flow, and don?t fight it.
