DFWRPI 6/2023, new conference link
... because I messed up the previous one, so new game, new luck: Better late than never. The only constant thing is change, just like variables won't, constants aren't. This month a week late, but that ain't gonna be a thing. Anyway, here we go, as always hybrid, both in person at https://thelab.ms/ and online. Got something to show? Feel free to speak, doesn't have to be a presentation, no slides required, doesn't even have to work properly. In case you can't make it to site, there's always Zoom: Cornelius Keck is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting. Any scary stories about tax day? Hopefully you made it through that mess alive. Also, both mentally and financially unharmed. Repeat after me: taxation is theft. Anyway: New month, new luck. As always, there's the first Saturday, the day of all days to talk shop. Who's got something to show off, found some new cool gear and all that? Talk to us! Nothing ever changes, so we meet both in person at, and virtually further down: https://thelab.ms/ 999 E. Needing some help with usb wifi adaptor / kernel headers mismatch - any ideas? 4
Hi Everyone, sorry I haven¡¯t been attending the meetings the last 4 (6?) months. It¡¯s been, well, hectic to say the least. If anyone can help ¨C it would be appreciated, and I can compensate. Our testing Pi for this is at 1600 14th street, or I can give access via real vnc. I do need to sort this out this week if possible. One big issue we have had is the relatively low powered wifi unit on the 3b+, particularly for California customers who have chicken wire faraday cages under recently applied stucco. Its been so bad even basic API calls fall over, intermittently. We have resolved the system impacts, but still want to improve the situation by allowing customers to add a USB wifi adaptor with antenna to get the signal high or low (or through the wall to the other side), away from the faraday cage. But I am having issues getting the correct kernel headers to load correctly. The usb device is recognized.. Raspberry Pi 4s For Sale At or Below MSRP 4
Hi Everyone, I live in Gunter, TX and just joined the group. I have been following the messages for a while, but never formally joined here on Groups.io. I have a set of Raspberry Pi 4 computers and accessories that I would like to sell at regular old MSRP pricing. Four Raspberry Pi 4s are new in the box, and four are in cases and have been used only briefly at my home (marked as In Use on the list below). I am also giving one Raspberry Pi 3B away for free in this set. I have been wanting to sell these at the old MSRP prices, but really don't want these to go to someone who will just turn around and try to scalp them and rip-off other potential new Raspberry Pi users. I was going to list these on E-Bay, but if I set a low price for Buy Now, I would imagine they would just get resold again at highest bidder pricing. I figured since you have an actual user group at TheLabs MakerSpace in Richardson, that you would have members interested in purchasing Raspberry Pis for the actual retail price instead of the crazy prices that people are asking. I also thought the user group might be able to separate these out into new user packages for members that are interested. I have put together a list of everything I am including, and hope maybe someone would be interesting in purchasing the package and also help ensure that these aren't resold at over MSRP pricing... The Package of Pis including pricing: Raspberry Pi Singe Board Computers: 2 x Raspberry Pi 4 Model B 2GB @ $35.00 (New MSRP: $45/ea) = $70 4 x Raspberry Pi 4 Model B 2GB (In Use) @ $35.00 (New MSRP: $45/ea) = $140 2 x Raspberry Pi 4 Model B 4GB @ $55.00 = $110 1 x Raspberry Pi 3 Model B 1GB (In Use) @ $35 = Free QTY 9 Raspberry Pis = $320 Accessories: 9 x Raspberry Pi 4 Official USB-C Power Supply @ $10 = $90 1 x Canakit 2 pack of Micro HDMI Cables for Raspberry Pi 4 @ $10 = $10 3 x Argon ONE Raspberry Pi 4 Case with Cooling Fan and Power Button @ $25 = $75 2 x Argon ONE Raspberry Pi 4 Case with Cooling Fan and Power Button (In Use) @ $20 = $40 1 x Vilros Raspberry Pi 4 Heavy Duty Aluminum Alloy Pi Cooling Case Black (In Use) @ $14 = $14 1 x Vilros Raspberry Pi 3 Heavy Duty Aluminum Alloy Pi Cooling Case Black (In Use) @ $14 = $14 1 x Argon NEO Raspberry Pi 4 Case | All Aluminum (In Use) @ $15 = $15 1 x Argon 40 Raspberry Pi 4 Poly+ Case @ $5 = $5 2 x Argon 40 Raspberry Pi 4 Fan Hat @$ 10 = $20 QTY 21 = $283 Free Items: 1 x Modified Argon 40 Raspberry Pi 4 Poly+ Case @ $5 = Free 1 x Official Raspberry Pi 3 Case Black / Grey @ $9 = Free 1 x Raspberry Pi 3 Model B 1GB (In Use) @ $35 = Free Complete Package = $603 ~= $600 / 8 RPI 4 = $75 per RPI 4 with Accessories + Free RPI 3B I realize that not everyone might want all of these accessories, but really I need to sell these all together, otherwise I would have nothing to do with the accessories. I would imagine new users of the group would want these accessories anyway, as they would probably need a case and power supply. Again the average price per PI @$75, including accessories, is very good (and that average price is not including the free Raspberry Pi 3B). My cost with sales tax was higher than the complete package price of $600. I am located up in Gunter, TX and work in Whitesboro. I would prefer to meet someone in Frisco or Prosper, if possible. Richardson is a little far, but I would not mind going down to meet someone at TheLabs in Richardson (and have a chance to check out the MakerSpace) if it can be arranged for a guest to accompany a member, to complete the purchase. Let me know if anyone in the group is interested in purchasing this package for Dallas RPI members - or if you know of someone else who would be interested in buying these - but not reselling them at higher prices. Thanks, Mike

RPi Pico emulates Z80 and runs CP/M 3
Not sure if there's anybody here that's interested in "retro computing" but here's an interesting article about running a Z80 emulator AND CP/M on a Raspberry Pi Pico! https://www.extremeelectronics.co.uk/emulating-a-z80.../ FWIW, there are two parts -- link for part 2 is at the end. -Rusty--- _____ |\/ o \ o Rusty Haddock <=> AE5AE | ( -< O o I've landed in McKinney. |/\__V__/ Math illiteracy affects 7 out of 5 people!

No DallasRPI Meeting this Saturday.
Heads up, we are going to skip our monthly get-together this Saturday, Nov. 5, because I'm attending http://bsidesdfw.com/, and I've not figured out how to be in two places at the same time. Sorry. We'll be back to regular scheduled insanity in December.
