Updated streaming playlist for Humanware players and other devices
Please bear in mind these playlists are aimed primarily at those living in the UK.? A link will be found near the end of this message to a Zip file containing these.
Ray. As seen on Access-UK: The BBC are changing their MP3 streams. I don't know how this will affect the Echo and Google, or the apps on the phone, and I don't know if Humanware will amend their UK playlist. Below is a link to a folder containing all the new BBC stream files for the Evo10 and Plextalk and playlists for the Victor Reader Stream and trek. As I said, I assume they will play on the EVO10, but have not tested them. I do know they work on the Plextalk, the Braille Sense and two Android phones. |

Humanware site is down
The message being included below was posted on Access UK yesterday evening.? Looks like Humanware might have a pretty serious problem with its website.
Access-UK message: Humanware's servers have been down since the beginning of the week.? It appears to have affected the whole organisation. To add to that, their VOIP telephone system has been affected, so one's only chance of contacting anyone was if you had a cell phone number for someone you know there. It must be a pretty serious problem. As of now (18:11) the web site is still down. Ray. |

开云体育Andrew, If Humanware's website is down that could be the reason you cannot subscribe to Podcasts, though I do not know that for certain.
For what its worth I often find that my Trek does nothing and hangs for quite a time when I search for podcasts and subscribe to them.? I suspect there is something peculiar about the modem being used in VR internet products making them less reliable than they should be in their internet connectivity.
I often end up taking my Trek off-line within the first option of the menus and then waiting a few seconds and putting it back on line.? that usually solves the problem at least for 10 or fifteen minutes.
I can only apologise if none of htis is of much help to you.

humanware podcasts on Trek

开云体育Sorry Henry, I had assumed your message was to Vi-gen Access, but I see now we are talking about the VR Stream list where you are certainly present.
I may be posting something about the BBC's updates to its Streams and it may be the person I have mentioned but not by mame, will tell the list of the updated lists that can be loaded into the Stream to take account of these updated streaming addresses.? At my request a list of some of the commercial offerings has been added which do not appear presently on the Humanware UK playlist.

Changes to MP3 streaming URLS
Mention was made in the last two days of the BBC changing the URLs for their MP3 streams.? A full explanation is in a blog post at:
(This is a Tiny URL shortened link as the original is very long and so wraps over two lines.) The BBC say they have reached out to all venders and streaming agrigators to make them aware of these changes which will be completed by March 31. We can but hope then that Humanware is one of the manufacturers who have been informed of these changes and that their national radio streams will accordingly be updated - if they have not already done this. Looks like it will play havoc with my BbC local radio playlists and I can only hope that someone I know is on to this and will update the playlists I use. Ray. |
