开云体育I assume that because you have the TNC X connected to the 880 that you are trying to connect to a RMS Packet station?via VHF=FM.? Am I correct? ? To: d-rats_group@... From: d-rats_group@... Date: Sat, 13 Sep 2014 19:41:06 -0700 Subject: [d-rats_group] Re: D-RATS Training ?
Ah!? OK, via Internet....Ya, I got that working just fine.
My main objective is to get RF/Winlink email working when I am remote -- e.g. no cell coverage etc.? Ya, I should be doing this via HF, but that's next.? The rig I have that has the TNC-X connected to it is a ICOM 880H 2M/70CM. ron |

开云体育There is NO D-rats, 5100 style pix or text messaging going on.??The Papa system is quite busy at times, so trying to get any data thru would cause issues.? I hope that with the addition of the 5100 and the 51A Anniversary radios, their might be some additional interest.?
I am using DRATS?on the internet (3 RAT reflectors), and am monitoring the Papa system, but am only getting position reports from the RF.? I have been on several of the reflectors with my DVAP and monitored for DRATS traffic.? I was also?involved with the testing of PIX from the 5100 radios. ? I think DRATS provides a great way to pass messages in an emergency?(or anytime).? I plan to hook it?up to my 880 and put that on the local VHF Packet frequency and see if?how it works.? The local VHF ARES groups use Outpost for their Packet client, and I doubt any of they will want to change.? I?just sold the County EC a 80AD and a ID31A, which?he is trying to find time to set up.? ? I hope that DRATS and the new message capabilities that ICOM is coming out with will be compatible.? ? Re: D-RATS Training
I'm somewhat surprised the local Dstar repeater frowns on data transmissions... that's part of what makes Dstar powerful and there are even dedicated data REFLECTORS! Look at and search for "data". You connect to these data refectors just like you would any other Dstar reflector but once connected, you use the Dstar radio's computer connection via say D-RATs, etc.
Btw, D-Rats on RF works pretty well. Since data over Dstar doesn't have any standard per se, D-Rats created it's own protocol if you will over it. That same protocol is also used over AGW/PE packet if you want to use it that way. One thing I really like about D-Rats is you can be connected to the Internet RAT flector, and have a working connection on RF, and Packet and in the chat window, select which link your messages will go over. --David KI6ZHD |

![]() here was the "WL2K" pick, followed by Send -- which was not exactly what I was doing.? Whe I tried this, there was no indication of a transmission. Although again, if I go to Chat, dial to dead space, and do a chat/send then PTT goes on, RED light so I think some stuff is working.? Incidentally, I did confirm that I can send/rec via D-Rats on a landline.?? Of note, when I fire up D-Rats I do get a short RED light (transmission), when I close the app, also get a short transmission. I think that's how D-Rats works so that may be a good sign.? Hmmm,? the one thing that I am now wondering about is "reach", that Winlink station is pretty far from me.? I don't know what the actual Winlink Telnet protocol is, I'm wondering if D-Rats has to "hear" the staiion your tuned to before it trys to connect?? Maybe I need to give this a try at elevation, which I could do. Oh!? I am running on a Mac to make things more challenging. ron |

Re: D-RATS Training
Hello Jim, I am going to start a D-RATS Training course this Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014 on the AE5HE RATflector at 7 PM (MDT). There will be four sessions scheduled for one hour each. The sessions will be on Sept. 11, 25, Oct 9 and 23. Send me an email at kb5hpt@... and I will get you registered and send you some additional information about the training. 73, Lew, KB5HPT |
Re: Crup D-Star Program
Did what you said, tried the Alabama Statewide
ARES, bingo, connected! Had no idea the default reflector was off-line. When the previous one said "connection refused," that should have told me that I was getting out. Another problem scratched off the list. Perhaps I don't have a router problem after all, we'll see. Learned another lesson, I expected the reflector to be up and it wasn't. Something is working, now I was able to see N3TSZ broadcast. Jim At 06:35 PM 9/9/2014, you wrote: James R. Holtzman Empirical Technology Carmichael, CA 95608 (916) 487-9712 emptech@... |

Two reasons, as d-rats starts up, it tries to announce itself to the
internet, or to the server.
I get an error message "RAT: Unable to connect (Unable to connect ((10061, "Connection refused))). Second, I don't know if this is an automatic thing or not, but without touching anything, I saw the message CQCQCQCQ try to go out, and it was highlighted in yellow, I read somewhere that showd there was an error and it didn't go out.? I may be reading this all wrong. I haven't used d-star/d-rats in a long time, but when I used to use it, I remember seeing traffic from all over the world. I also recently changed to a new router, bought a MikroTik, with takes a lot more setting up than your run of the mill d-link or linksys.? I have a lot of configuration to do, that could be part of the problem too, but you know what they say, can't see the forest through the trees, could be just me and something simple. I'm all ears, where should I go next, for one thing, should we start a new thread or is this ok with everybody? Jim At 06:05 PM 9/9/2014, you wrote: ?

Re: Crup D-Star Program
Don't touch the device manager. Leave the settings at the defaults. Set the port speed to match the radio in D-RATS preferences>radio...
If you think you are not connecting to the internet, it might be because the default ratflector is offline. Look in the database section of this group for more internet based ratflectors to connect to. |
Re: Crup D-Star Program
So, according to the tables I've seen, the 92AD should be 38.4K,
understood.? How about the baud rate of the
com port itself via the device manager? Jim At 05:39 PM 9/9/2014, you wrote: ?

The brand name on the adaptor is Trendnet, model tu-s9, I sell computer products, it's a brand I sell, did a driver update with windoze, it downloaded the prolific driver.? So far seems to be working.? I haven't read the article about counterfeit chips yet, will do. Dumb question, I went to the url where it has all the comments.? Looks like a lot of source code for fixes.? What do I do to upgrade my version?? I clicked on the zip, downloaded the file to a directory and expanded it, but that doesn't look like what I want, is it?? I was expecting to see a setup, install, or d-rats.exe file there, did I miss it? BTW, I saw the table of baud rates, yes, I have my 92AD at 38.5K, both in the program and set with the device manager.? I remember with the 2820s, the driver set to 38K isn't a problem but the program had to be set to 9600.? There seemed to be confusion as to what baud rate the device itself had to be. Problem solved. After uninstalling, re-installing, going to c:\users\holtzman\appdata\roaming, now have d-rats. I could swear it was not there before, but there it is, and the config file is a plain text file, just what I wanted. OK people, you can close the trouble ticket on this one! Now back to two other problems, the problem keying up the radio may be gone, I downloaded the latest prolific drivers for my adaptor, may have solved the problem, not keying up the radio, time will tell. The problem connecting to the internet, until I get the router going right, I think that's going to still be a problem. But, can it be something as simple as a windoze firewall setting? I went into the firewall settings and told it to add r-rats as acceptable, still a problem. I just saw my screen try to put out a cqcqcq, all in yellow, if I recall that means it didn't go out, right? Jim At 04:45 PM 9/9/2014, you wrote: James R.
