Re: using D-0rats over ampr.org (44.x)
? Hello Team,
?
Thanks for the feedback so far.
?
with regards the Ip addresses on portal.ampr.org, the people giving them out are volunteers and can take a while to respond. be patient and try other area contacts if at all possible, I am based in the UK and the IP guy here is very active (G4APL / Paul) so i was quite lucky.
?
Please note that the 44.131.176.33 address is not an Internet routable address (none of 44.x is (or should be))
?
So to get access via the net please as suggested connect to xylene.no-ip.biz and this will route to my broadband IP.
?
if you telnet on port 23 to xylene.no-ip.biz you will get access to my ax25 node and the rest of the UK / world packet network.
?
logon with just your callsign.
?
Would love to hear from everyone but outside of UK links wanted to help grow the network.
?
Thanks and best 73

Hello Team,
?
It is with excitement that I share I ahve a ratflector set up and running on the ampr network.
The old packet radio / ax25 / IP using the 44.x block.
?
You can reach MB6JP on 44.131.176.33 or from the Internet at xylene.no-ip.biz
port 9000 and no passwords
?
The intention is to bridge the ax25 world and the d-star world with one simple interface.
?
If you are interested in peering or exploring ax25 / ampr 44 please do let me know.
?
Thanks and best regards

Re: using D-0rats over ampr.org (44.x)
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThat is fantastic news, James!?? I think connecting ax25 and D-STAR would be very helpful - combining two capable and useful tools.??? I am definitely interested, but have had trouble getting started on ampr.? I registered some time ago on portal.ampr.org and I have requested an IP block for just this purpose.? But haven't heard anything.?? Anyone have thoughts on how I should proceed? |

Re: D-Rats for EMA Users
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThanks for the reply.? ??That's a pretty common sense answer, and I should have been able to answer that part for myself.?? We would always have a licensed control operator on board, so we should be covered as far as the FCC is concerned.?? I think when I posted this I was thinking more along the lines of the call sign that is put in D-RATS.?? In this case we would be using a tactical call sign that is somehow tied to the county's MCV, and I assume that would be ok.? ? The only place where we could get into trouble is, as you said, if we are operating without a licensed control operator. ? Makes sense. ? Thanks, and 73. |
Re: D-rats
Check out the MARCA Group.? They were one of the founding entities of D-Star in the Phoenix and are very supportive of new users.

Re: D-Rats for EMA Users
If the Control Operator is licensed and on-site for the band you're transmitting on you shoud be OK. A transmission is a transmission where it's voice or data VOIP thats eventually transmitted over to RF on Amateur Freqs, so look at the "Control Station Operator Rules." Example; Field Day Demos; A Non Licensee(walk up civilian) can use the privileges of an Extra Class(or other License Class) if the Extra Class is the Station or Control Operator and operating within his privileges.? The Extra Class has to be present at the station. I would review the "peculiar use" restrictions/rules, (just as a refresher if the EMA has additional questions or what if's).. 73 ---In d-rats_group@..., <dan@...> wrote: Today while our ARES group was deployed with our county EMA in support of an air show our EMA contact asked if we could set up a way to have various internet-connected PC users to chat and transfer files during a deployment or excercise. ?I showed him D-Rats, and he liked the solution. ?We talked about setting up a ratflector for the county. Re: Gateway/Ratflector
You can run D-RATS on the same computer that hosts the gateway. Download
and install the D-RATS software and run the D-RATS repeater utility. Mark the "Accecpt incoming connections" box and click the On button. I believe the G4KLX software will let D-RATS connect to the low speed data stream of the repeater radio. For more information, download "Running your own Ratflector.pdf" from the files section of this group. 73, Patrick --- In d-rats_group@..., wrote: for D-Star, but would really like to have the ability for users that do not have a D-Star radio to connect to a gateway or ratflector and talk to those using D-Rats via RF. link to the internet for these users. that is connected to the repeater itself to make this easier? Gateway/Ratflector
I am really new to D-Star and D-Rats. I am setting up a new repeater for D-Star, but would really like to have the ability for users that do not have a D-Star radio to connect to a gateway or ratflector and talk to those using D-Rats via RF.
My main concern is that I don't want to Tie up a radio just to have a link to the internet for these users. Is there a way to run a gateway or ratlfector software on the computer that is connected to the repeater itself to make this easier? I am using the G4KLX repeater and IRCDDB Gateway.
