If your Linux machine is running a firewall try temporarily turning it off. You may need to open those ports in the firewall as well.

I know this is an old subject, but it is beating me about the head and shoulders.
I have the d-rats package installed on debian-7 and want to run a local proxy via the internet.
(1) router set to forward tcp/udp 9000-9005 to local ip server
(2) proxy setup to use k3mmb.shacknet.nu:9000 (k3mmb-11)
(3) client on another maching set up to access k3mmb-11
?can not get connected. Errono 110 - time out.
I know this is a simple thing, but it is driving me nuts
any suggestions to fix a users mistake?
