ADX-S No RF power above 18 MHz
6
Hello group, I've assembled the ADX-S kit from crkits.com. The construction manual is well written and gives excellent advice during the process. Everything worked the first time. RF output from my ADX-S between 7 MHz and 18 MHz is fine (2-3 W), but there is no output from 21 MHz and above. I've tried the following to rectify the power problem: Matched 3 x BS170 from at batch of 12. Matching parameter Vgs. No change. Swapped the 3 x BS170 with 3 x 2N7000 (they were matched from a batch of 10). No change Bypass C22 and remove D6 and R12. No change What to do now? 73 from OZ1BXM Lars Petersen

Most cell phone speakers sound pretty good for their size. Does anyone have any experience using a speaker out of a defunct cellphone for projects? ken -wa4mnt

FT8CN+Bluetooth adapter+ADX-S HF QRP Transceiver
#photo-notice
Guys, If you still remember this post by BG7IKK, I would add that I have recently tested the integrated version. It draws about 20mA and it is totally cable free. It does have some limitations due to the audio quality via Hands Free Profile, however, I am happy with it when I hold my phone in bed or in field. See the video here: https://mp.weixin./s/gYrQ01FCFGx0WFSa811-Uw Integration ideas: https://mp.weixin./s/tFf8sf_K8eMd52yDohsM7A Thanks, Adam On 2023/3/29 13:46, JACK wrote:

Newbe question: my new kt3 kit oscillates
22
Hello, I assembled the kit I purchased and it works sometimes and sometimes the red led flashes on and off at approximately 0.5 of a second. I checked all connections and solder points but found no culprit. Has anyone encountered such issue? Any suggestions?

ADX-S 4 bander, update your firmware to get 2 more free bands
Guys, If you upgrade your firmware to V1.3, you can support up to 7 band, but normally you will need to make 7 band filter modules. However, for 4 bander users, you can consider reuse your 10m module for 12m, and 15m module for 17m. You will be surprised about the results. Can we also reuse 20m module for 30m band? No. The spur will be quite bad. How can we upgrade the firmware? Read the Assembly Manual and download the necessary files in this folder: /g/crkits/files/ADX-S If you know how to modify the code, it is recommended that you modify this line to enable ATT by default, that is, change from int attnow = 0 to 1. It is important if you have a fair or better antenna. int attnow = 0; //0 = no ATT, 1 = ATT Thanks, Adam

Now you can pre-order TCXOM on CRKITS.COM
2
Guys, I have made available the green TCXOM instead of the entire module, as I have little time to do the rework myself. You can place order now, 1 or 5 pcs a time, and I will ship no later than March 25. http://crkits.com Thanks, Adam

QRPBuilder new PTO development boards
Gang, We have added two bare boards for use with our PTO. While I was working on designing the PTO, I used the Norcal Tin Ear circuit for the testing. I have some of these 40m receiver boards available for anyone that wants to experiment with a PTO. We also have an option 2 to the prototype PTO project. It is a 4.25" sq. board that uses only the TinEar oscillator with 375 pads for your design and expansion. All the power and I/O connections are contained on the board. Either bard board is available for $12 w/free conus delivery. Both options are described at: https://qrpbuilder.com/pto-test-bed Ken - wa4mnt

ADX-S kit almost complete. I am impressed
3
I have the ADX-S almost completed. The bad: I had a defective stand off with no threads and was missing a gray button cap. The good: I am not complaining because I liked what came with the kit so much I wanted some for my own projects, anyway! So I ordered a 3mm brass standoff set as an assortment and also buttons with caps assortment off of Amazon US. I changed the colors of the LEDs on the mode display to green, and the gray buttons to blue because I could. I am actually quite impressed with the receiver on the kit. For how simple it is, it works very well. I have 10 more of those CD2003 IF chips coming from China once the holiday is over. I have a bunch of ideas for them. The superhet mod works better than I thought it would, too. I could be wrong but the receiver was a tad bit better than on my (tr)uSDX. It's perfectly good for FT-8 that is for sure. I have been able to run a USB 2.0 hub with a OTA adapter to type C and a USB 3.2 hub type C off the Android phone driving a CM108 chipset USB sound card and CAT on the ADX-S no problem with FT8CN (and also on windows and Linux). It's pretty slick. That stuff fits in a "sandwich" box that's about the same size as the ADX-S and all I need to do is plug in the hub cable to the phone or laptop to use it now! Almost done because I haven't populated the 74ACT244 and three final BS-170s yet, and have just been burning in the RX. I want to perfectionist tweak the 7 band filters first. I am assuming that a 4 to 1 unun on the finals side of a filter fixture to hook all of the 7 filters up to will be the proper way to go with a NanoVNA. Is there any reason I can't build up a 80m filter for this too? I am going to try it. I was easily hearing Europe, South America, North America and Africa this evening on 20m with the ADX-S receiver from SE Arizona. It's actually an easy kit and so far every part of it worked first try. The code is easily modified. (old bootloader, Nano on the Arduino IDE.) One thing to note is that the CAT will not work without the si5351 board being attached, so trying to test the Nano before putting on the board isn't possible unless you reflash the code to test the board! Nice job Adam! Fred W0FMS/7
