Issues with Sonos & Crestron
Have had 3 projects today suddenly lose the ablity for the Crestron to control the volume of Sonos equipment using the official module v.3.1.0.
I know there was a large update to S2 a few days ago which im assuming these projects have auto updated to. Can anybody confirm if they've got issues or if their systems are all good? Thanks |

using S2 firmware.,there is a problem? then it is not possible to control it with the crestron version S2 best regards Francisco R. Hernández H. 开云体育Yes, there is an issue between Crestron and Sonos, but it has nothing to do with the S2 or S1.? Basically, over time, the system errors out and looses connection.? To get it back, the processor will need to be rebooted.? I have many many systems out there and it seems like the larger the system the quicker it has issues.? I have some small ones that seem to work just fine, even with the errors.? I have larger ones (25-30 devices) that seem to only last a few hours before needing the processor rebooted.? I have one system 24 devices that I had to put in programming to reboot it at midnight and at 5:00 in the afternoon just to keep it from going offline.? The main error that I see is ? Error: splusmanagerapp.exe # 2020-09-29 03:36:55? # [WebSocket]<00000000> WebSocketClientConnect: Error: ipaddress lookup by hostname failed ? The system will start getting these and after some time, eventually disconnect from the Sonos. ? Not sure this will help you, but I thought I would send it for informational purposes. ? DAVE ? Interesting. This isn’t an issue that I’ve seen before and have a few Crestron + Sonos systems out there.?
Would really like to hear if people do have S1 & S2 systems still working fully! |
I haven't heard of issues recently as you describe. Overall most of our systems are fairly stable for months then needing a proc reboot.
We're going to a 2nd slot model for the Sonos modules so that they can be rebooted daily to see if we can mitigate the reboot every few months... ** This isn't your issue but this has reared its head on a few projects... If the client has more than 30 favorites (This is in the Sonos API), this will lead to continuous communication problems every few hours to a few days.? The only fix is to reduce the favorites to 30 or less The Crestron interface will display the extra favorites and allow then to be selected/played, but eventually they will crash the Comm's I had two sites, 45 and 56 favorites respectively (Yes, the clients don't understand the concept of favorites!!) that tortured me before we figured this out!! ** |
Dave is correct. This is a known issue and has been for several years. It has to do with Windows handles. The way it was explained to me by ATSG is that eventually the processor runs out of handles to distribute and rebooting is the only way to solve it. It was something I lost interest in, so I'm sorry I cant be more specific, but maybe some of the Windows gurus could help explain it better.? Nope, it isn't just you. I’ve been sitting at home fiddling with it all afternoon. This is NOT the standard reset the processor and it all comes back. Something definitely is ‘up’. I have Playbar who’s volume works fine, a Beam with no volume control and a Connect on S2 with what seems to be only one way coms...transport controls seem to work but no cover art, no station icons...of course dozens will have to make noise until Crestron even acknowledges that their might be an issue. It happened sometime yesterday as we were onsite fiddling with a DMPS and the Sonos connected to it wouldn’t connect to save my life.

Although it’s rubbish for everybody who’s going to be effected, I’m glad it’s not just me.?

I have always had issues with Sonos and started putting Sonos modules in their own slot for a nightly reboot. We still get a bunch of errors and lose control. Sometimes it lasts the whole day without an issue, sometimes they occur not far after the prog restart. S1 or S2. I've jumped thru so many hoops with tech support and they refuse to acknowledge the issues. The usual "send us your programs and we may or may not get back to you" BS. All this headache for garbage functionality. This is what fills our error log when it fails:

开云体育Hey guys,?I've done a little research on the Sonos 3rd party integration.? It turns out that the Sonos API is actually? public available however you have to register as a developer at Sonos website to get to it.? For example, here is a link to control the volume on the Sonos: At least the way I read it, it does appear that every time you discovery your Sonos devices you have to have an Internet connection and connected to the Sonos Cloud service to discovery your Sonos devices. And if you are interested in developing your own Sonos interface, here is an open source github example of Sonos control using node.js. ??? ??? S1 is definitely required for TSWx60 Sonos App support (as TSWx60 only runs S1 app), but both S1 and S2 have historically been working for Media Player control.
?
True Blue recently received several reports of Sonos S2 12.1 update from 9/29 breaking Media Player functionality, but this is currently being investigated and should be addressed.

This is quite confusing.? I had to fully reboot the processor to get basic controls working again.? Usually just rebooting the program works.? I have a Play 1, a Connect, and a Sonos One voice control.? I can control transports and volume on the Play 1 and Connect, but nothing on the Sonos One.? Also, none of the Sonos Favorites are populating now.

Actually, I don't have an answer to that. After reading the other

responses, it looks like a simple program reboot would do it. I am especially interested in putting the SONOS on program 2 and just rebooting that program. At the moment, I do a full hardware reboot. -----Original Message-----

开云体育No, those are still the latest and greatest.? As a matter of fact, volume and mute control is all I ever used them for.? And, unfortunately, they still loose that control too. ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Slip Cougan
