Crestron Go help needed

开云体育

Hi,

?

i need to get a project up and running using the Crestron Go app.

Some help on the basic steps are much appreciated.

?

What I did so far:
1) Loaded the Go app onto an iPhone (IOS 16)

2) Created a VTP project with “Crestron app” as panel (just one page). Projectname matches project file name.

3) Added Crestron Go app to the SIMPL program. Projectname “Crestron Go Project Name” matches the VTP name.

4) uploaded SIMPL program and uploaded the VTP-project to the processor.

5) added a user with “connect” rights to the processor, authentication is enabled.

6) configured the user above into the Crestron app incl. the other information (processor IP etc.)

7) clicking on the processor in the app shows “Connecting to System” and that?s it.

?

iPhone and processor are on different subnets, but ping between processor and iphone works (vice versa).

I?m also having trouble connecting via Toolbox to the Go-app (which should be possible I understand).

?

Any ideas?

?

Thanks,

Thorsten

Thorsten,

if you’re able to send me the SIMPL and VTPro files I’ll load onto my test area and take a look for you. ?We have many CP3 processors and iPad Go apps connecting.

steve?

Hi Thorsten

In the Crestron Go settings there is an option to allow access to the local network. This can randomly be turned off by default, but not in all cases weirdly.

Good luck.

What Justyn Said.
Also, in the Go app on your phone, make sure that you 'Enable SSL' and add the UN/PW of the processor (main or user account if set up)...

Other than that it may be an issue with your router rules between subnets like Dobias mentioned

When you placed the iPhone files in the HTML folder, make sure that you you are transfering two separate files, not the one folder.

Hi,
so for this seems to be an issue that the iPad can‘t reach the processor or better not
with all necessary connections.

Because you don‘t get an error message I can‘t believe it‘s a configuration or misplacement
of the files. Because you stay in the connecting state I am pretty shure the iPad didn‘t connect
to the processor.

You really need to check if the communication between the subnets is blocking all or some?
communication. You need the https and the CIP to be able to reach the processor.?

If the communication between subnets is working, maybe try an user with more rights than connection only.?
I had issues, mostly with TSW Panels, not connecting with SSL if the user had limited rights. But not?
shure if that was a FW issue for limited time on processors and is solved.

Have you tried the blocked IPs command through text console to see if the IP is being blocked??

You can also connect to the processor and go to the authentication settings and see if the admin account is being blocked. If it is, set up a new user and use those credentials for connecting the app to the processor?

Hi all,

?

communication should be open, nothing blocked.

But i?ll move the iPad into the same subnet just for testing and report back.

?

Everything else (files, etc.) seems to be OK.

?

Cheers,

Thorsten

Deleting and reinstalling the CrestronGo app did the trick.

OK, but that brings the network permission for the Crestron Go app to my mind.

Maybe after the first install you didn‘t allow it and with the second you did?!

Not shure what the behavior would be if this permission is not set, but could imagine?
similar to what you described.

No, i checked the settings for the app before. Looked good to me and are the same after the re-install.

Perhaps something was screwed up with the first installation and got sorted with the re-install.

?

I?ll check with another iPhone soon.

Also remember that CONNECTS level users will only get SCIP :41796 access.
You'll need USERS level or higher for HTTPS :443 access to download the project file.
?

Once the project is finalized, you can toggle "iOS Settings > Crestron Go > Check For Updates" off.
This will make CGo use the last locally cached project file, and not check the webserver for UI changes.
In other words, it will then only connect SCIP, which will speed up the connection to the processor.
(P.3, Step 11 @?)

Hey Dave H,
Regarding "you can toggle "iOS Settings > Crestron Go > Check For Updates" off."
What happens when there is a change to the project loaded on the processor. will it not update if this is OFF??
TIA!

Correct. When making UI changes the "Check for Updates" toggle must be set back to "On" to pull the new version (and can then be turned back Off to speed loading/connection).

I've fielded plenty of support calls over the years along the lines of "We uploaded a new CGo/CApp project to the processor, but the new button is missing on the page."
In every instance their iPads were still loading the previously cached version of the UI because they forgot to set "Check for Updates" back to "On."

Thanks, Dave.
Is there any way to have a button (reserved Join?) in a project that causes the app to manually look for an update?
This way we could just have the client press a button on their existing interface (in a settings page)...

TIA!

Edited

I thought I experienced the app checking for an update [as part of loading ui] when it was launched from cold regardless of the check for updates state (this was with Crestron app).? It seemed to me the checking either happened or not when app came from background.? It has been a few years, though, since iPads suck so badly . . .

Love that idea Chris. That would certainly solve clients complaining the app is too slow to start. We could leave that feature unchecked and when we do a UI change just tell them to go to blah blah page and press a button. But I bet at this point if they dont have a reserved join to do this then we aint getting one...

Great suggestion Chris.
Maybe a digital on a device extender as well
