552 Panels

Just wondering if anyone has had this issue before... So I installed several TSW-1052's and TSW-552's last week. ?Updated all the firmware to these panels to the latest firmware, loaded my graphics tested and went home. ?That was last Thursday. ?I go to the job site today and every single touch panel was now locked up. I have 5 1052's and about 8 552;s on site. ?A few V15's as well but all those are OK.

?Some were stuck in the Crestron Loading screen, some were stuck on a black screen, and one was stuck with a message saying the Android OS was being updated. ?But it all cases, I was able to connect to the panels via toolbox. ?I was not able to reload any project to ANY of them. ?All gave me an error message when uploading through FTP or through Toolbox. ?Of course I caught this towards the end of the day so Crestron tech support wasnt able to do much yet (I will be back with them tomorrow after to double check code and VTProe files).

What I was thinking is that maybe the Andoind OS operating system started to get updated in the background and jammed the panels up. ?Anyone else seend or heard anything like this?? ?I'll update when I go back on site tomorrow and call back tech support.

I have a couple very early 552s in my house and haven¡¯t encountered anything like the described. The OS should not be background updating at all.

A complete shot in the dark, but one thing I'd check is the power status on the panels.

There's some information in the boot log (err plogcurrent) which can indicate an under voltage.? Obviously, we know thins from experience of a PoE switch that wasn't able to deliver sufficient power to the panels and the result was that they would freeze up.? Removing load from the switch resolved the issue.

This is what we were seeing in the log:

Persistent log contents during current boot:
HW WDOG: PMIC FAULT_LOG Register Content:
Watchdog Time Violated = 0
VDDOUT under voltage power down = 1

...

A pain - but at least it's an easy one to resolve if that's the issue.

Cheers,

Ol

I just got a message from a client who has 3) 1052s that are experiencing the same symptoms. ?He rebooted the POE, and the problem doesn't go away. Two of them are stuck loading, the other says no project loaded.

Of course, these are the only devices I don't have set up in the router, and I am 6500 miles away in Warsaw.

I have 2 units a 552 and a 752 exhibiting the same behavior. The project is three hours away and I would like to have a permanent fix before I head there tomorrow. TB told me to reload the .puf and .vtz files, did not work but I was doing it remotely and could not see exactly what was going on.

We have now had to get RMA's for 15 (fifteen) TSW-xx52 series panels so far. ?All of them were 752's or 1052's. ?Symptoms have all been slightly different but also slightly similar. ?

In the end all of them ended up being bricked and had no choice but to replace. ?It would happen during firmware updates mostly, other times it was just when we reboot the panel after putting in a static IP.

Some of them the project would just erase in the panel after a month or so and when I try to update to the latest firmware, brick.

Some of them certain smart graphics (ie horizontal tab) would just disappear after about a month of use. ?initialize, restore, firmware update, then brick.

The ones that don't brick might just get stuck in loading. ?What is weird about these ones is device discovery tool will see them but I am unable to connect with any other tools or even ping them. ?

TB told me that they haven't really heard of any 52 series panels going bad and we are unusual. ?Glad and sad to hear that we are not the only company with these problems. ?As of now we are replacing all 52 series panels with 50 series panels on all future orders until they are more stable. ?

I RMA'd a 1052 last week. Installed in the wall the TEMP command reported over 100¡ãC for PMIC device and 85¡ã+C for the other temp.

Connecting the panel on a 10¡¯ cable direct to the switch solved all problems. Temps reported were near 70¡ãC for both.

Putting the panel back in the wall on a less than 80' run, and it ran hot again and froze after the loading smart graphics screen, with the white ball going back and forth.

The PoE switch (Cisco SG300-28P) was nowhere near capacity. Had over 120w available still.

Ok - To followup, I was running firmware?Version 1.000.0025 on all the panels which was released back in June or July if I remember. ?They recently released?Version 1.000.0038. ?One of the bugs fixed: "Corrected issue where some larger Smart Graphics projects would fail to load". ?Dont know if that specific bug did it, but all panels were running same firmware and they all locked up at around the same period of time.

Took a little bit of TLC (I had to Recover 1 panel, and a few more needed a couple of reboots). ?I was able to get most of the panels with the newest firmware up and runing again. ?One is being replaced by Crestron as it wont go into recovery mode. ?I spent most of the day getting them back online, but it least Im back up and running. ?

My test 750 is reporting:
Current CPU/SATA Temperature: 71C
Current PMIC Junction Temperature: 104C
It's sitting on my desk plugged staight into the switch half a meter away via a Crestron PoE injector.
Latest release fw.
Should I be worried?

I have two 1052 panels both reported dead within a few days of each other. ?Can't reach either one of them with any tools, and of course they're out on a fairly remote island. ?Not sure what firmware is loaded, installation was mid-June and they were updated then. ?Calling TBTS in the morning.
