Re: XPanel Scaling Up?? (And Badly)
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýIt¡¯s not just a mac problem. ? New Windows 11 (don¡¯t get me started on how much I hate the Windows 11 UI and how it reminds me of everything I hated about OS X 10 years ago/what a productivity suck the taskbar is) laptop with a 4K+ display if I leave the scaling at what Windows recommends and run an XPanel it runs off the screen. If I have windows not scale the app (which would be my preference) it breaks the connection dialog box so badly I can¡¯t enter an IP address or IP ID (like some of the text fields are there but the labels, checkbox, and connect/cancel buttons aren¡¯t there)¡. If I turn the Windows desktop scaling down to 100% other things get too small for my old eyes. ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of

Maybe an issue with the Mac's settings for that particular application? Sometimes higher resolution displays have something other than 100% scaling as the default so that text will be readable.

Looking for help with an article
I'm looking for some help with an article I'm writing.? What I can promise, in the words of Indiana Jones, is fortune and glory. Well, maybe not fortune since I don't get paid for any of the articles I write, but you will get the glory of seeing your name in print.? What I'm looking for is someone with some very strong math skills that can translate some equations in a scientific paper into code.? This will all be tied into some new ways I'm exporing for how HVAC systems are controlled in a smart home. ? If you are interested, email me off list at jay dot m dot basen at gmail
Thanks Jay |
Re: Topics in Home Automation - New Article in Residential Tech Today
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI have used IFTTT since the service was started.? I have only had
problems with it a handful of times over the years.? I believe
that as Matter evolves to include more device types, and companies
embrace it, the need for IFTTT will from a smart home perspective
will go away.? However, today, there are a large number of
manufacturers that have chosen not to release an API and instead
only allow control of their products through IFTTT.? I guess you don't to use Alexa, Google Assistant, or any other
voice control systems either because those are all cloud services
.? I would never rely on a cloud services for critical
applications such as an alarm system.? But just because the
service is in the cloud doesn't make it bad or unreliable. My $.02 Jay On 1/19/2023 9:56 AM,

Re: XPanel Scaling Up?? (And Badly)
I'm in house, so it's all kind "my end", but I get what you mean.? It looks like you're right, not entirely an issue with XPanel.? Ran a test on a couple of other Macs and it's an issue with how Macs adjust/report their resolution.? They are often running at a lower res than it appears.? There is a setting with options called "Default" and "More Space".? Default is NOT the native resolution, it's much lower.? "More Space" appears to mean "run at native resolution".? ?Most apps adjust to the lower resolution, XPanel does not.
? ? ? Why is it always Apple products?? Every. Single. Time. |
Re: Crestron GO and iOS 16.x
I, like others, have a case open about this...
Here's the latest post from it, from Jan. 17th: "Case was added to existing report BR 7360 for tracking & follow-up "CGo - Rotation / Orientation Changes Crashing App on iOS 16"
QE is still in the process of testing new build prior to release; no ETA provided"? So...Like Dan said...:( |

Virgin media box
pearce.bruce
Hi all
Hopefully some one will have a working ir file to control the latest software revision of the boxes . In their great wisdom virgin boxes no longer make an ir remote control . Or allow ip control of their boxes ( the modules I have tried don¡¯t work ) I have been told that Zidoo media commands work but I bought a Zidoo remote and that won¡¯t work either. I have found some raw pronto commands that do work Ch up and down enter, exit and info. Can someone please share a fix to control these boxes. Thanks Bruce Regards Bruce |
Re: Topics in Home Automation - New Article in Residential Tech Today
Thanks John. I completely agree. If you want to monitor your mailbox you will have to use the YoLink IFTTT service. To integrate that with a Crestron system I suggest using a Hubitat Hub as a gateway and the software I¡¯ve written to integrate the Hubitat with a Crestron system. The Hubitat eliminates any need to do any port forwarding on your router to get a trigger from IFTTT when your mailbox opens. It sounds a bit convoluted but I¡¯ve found using the Hubitat to be rock solid? Re: Poly SSH
"I'm using a workaround now, I'm using an external SSH module connected to RS232 TX/RX strings of the Poly module. "
This is probably going to be your best bet. The Crestron SSH module has gone through many revisions due to this very issue. My guess is the Group Series Driver 4.0 still uses an old version.? We ran into the same issue with the early versions of the Cisco module with the built in SSH connection. |
Re: Crestron Home - Satellite Channel List Incorrect - Manually changing the channel numbers to match
I don't believe this is possible.
My understanding (which may well be rubbish) was that the data is provided by third party services and Crestron pass that on verbatim.? Any errors in channel names, numbers or icons come from the upstream provider.? The bizarre part of that story being that there doesn't appear to be any way for Crestron to "correct" any mistakes, or allow us to create our own custom provider files. In short, I don't think Crestron are in a position to fix it even if they wanted to. It is "sub-optimal". Oliver |
