A little fun project for the kids with a ST-CP Oh sure...
With everyone stuck at home, I decided to do something fun for the kids.? So I set up a projector and screen in the back yard.
To avoid fumbling with remotes, I grabbed a old St-1700C and a ST-CP from the to be disposed of pile (all came from a working setup).? The 1700 charged right up but for the life of me, I can't seem to connect to the ST-CP to program it.? I double checked my cable.? Ohms out correctly.? Tried Toolbox and Viewport.? Is this thing so old that Toolbox is having a brain fart. What started out as a fun couple of hour project is now pissing me off. |

FYI, the presets by?percentage range from 0-65535 unless you scale them. You need to limit the range of the analog being sent to the sACN node to 0-255.
So if your fader range is 0-255, that should be sufficient. Your presets also need to send that analog range.? |
Demand for thermal/fever-screening cameras?
#crestron
#hikvision
We are expecting a significant jump in demand for thermal/fever-screening cameras once "normal" work resumes, are you guys seeing/expecting the same thing?
Obviously, for the enterprise, Crestron should not be the one in charge of reporting these alarms, that's not the case on the residential side of course. What are some of the best thermal camera solutions out there? do they integrate well with Crestron?... I know Hikvision has a "fever screening" camera lineup, are they any good? Your feedback is greatly appreciated. |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýIf you see values in the MKII on proper DMX channels, that means MKII successfully communicates with SIMPL sACN module.Problem somewhere further - DMX connections, settings on the fixtures. Good quality DMX cables and proper termination must... I can¡¯t comment on Chauvet as we use SourceFour and Elation Satura Profile fixtures¡. Those lights auto-terminate and has mode to show what is incoming on the DMX bus on fixture LCD¡.

I appreciate the response.
I was trying to achieve pan, tilt, color, color wheel, gobos controls, so I could create scenes once they all work and emulate the physical DMX controller with the SIMPL programming. @Lincoln King-Cliby, about the DMX bus termination, not sure about this, but I have? DIN-ODE MK2 OUT ( 3-pin phoenix connector , GND, D-,D+)? direct connect to the Chauvet lighting DMX IN (GND, D-, D+). will try to initialize instead of ramp. Did analog presets by percentage (0 to 100), 1 of 512 sACN value at a time,? all 512 values at once, same issue as well but like I said, DIN-ODE MK2 is giving me 0-255 values that matches the values I set them to, its just not controlling the Chauvet lighting per channel assignment.based on the manual. @Rob and @Thorsten, I do not have these nodes ( chauvet netx-II etc..) or any similar hardware. I thought SIMPL could do the same thing and replace them as long as I have the MK2?.. But yes, I did just that, took the faders from the UI I made from VT-PRO with 0-255 range (reflected by the buffer values feedback from MK2 GUI)? connected directly to sACN in SIMPL. |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYep, some more details on the problem itself would be good. I?ve used the ODE MK2 (PoE) together with the sACN module as well without issues. The ODE MK2 needs to be configured for sACN. I?m also using UI faders directly connected to the sACN inputs or routed through the RGB_Processor module for RGB lighting. Works very well. ? Regards, Thorsten ? Von: [email protected] <[email protected]> Im Auftrag von Rob ? I'm not entirely sure what error you're running into. |

I'm not entirely sure what error you're running into.
But I can say I've used the sACN module quite a bit with phenomenal success.? We either use the Chauvet NetX-II or the DMX-AN as a node. We have also used DMXKing. One thing I've seen is some nodes are capable of Art-net or sACN, but you need to select which protocol you want.? We usually just take faders straight from the UI with a range of 0-255 and connect them directly to the sACN module in SIMPL. We also usually give the client some preset control using analog buffers. (Assuming the lights have an architectural element to them.) |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSo a few points/questions ? -????????? Have you tried just initializing values rather than rampin them? I don¡¯t know about the sACN module particularly but a lot of devices and their corresponding modules don¡¯t handle ramping values gracefully (I¡¯ve personally caused a PRO3 to crash multiple times seeing how far I could push ramping 3rd party devices). There are ways to handle this gracefully if the device supports ?a ¡°ramping¡± command and the module interprets a RCB-ed analog (Ramp Control Block ¨C the thing that lets native Crestron devices ramp volumes and lighting levels gracefully) and converts those details to the appropriate commands to ramp the native device rather than hammering it with ¡°Go to 0.1% - go to 0.5% - go to 1.0% ¡ etc¡± ¨C which especially if you¡¯re doing multiple channels can cause things to fail fast o?? In any event step #1 with troubleshooting is minimizing both the number of variables and the speed at which those variables are changing. o?? (As a side note I believe our CueServer module package does this but it¡¯s been a while since I¡¯ve had a reason to look closely at it ¨C Caleb can chime in here) -????????? Are you sure the DMX bus is terminated properly at both ends? DMX requires a ~120 ohm termination at both ends to prevent reflections and DMX, likely due to its high baud rate (230,400) is particularly sensitive to unterminated runs ¨C of course different devices behave differently but I¡¯ve seen some wild results without proper termination. -????????? Can you give more details on ¡°just not the exact thing I want¡±? What exactly are you trying to do and what are you seeing instead? ? Lincoln ? -- Lincoln King-Cliby, CTS, DMC-E-4K/T/D ? DJ lighting + Crestron : DIChauvet Intimidator spot 255 IRC DMX 512 + SIMPL windows
goal = ethernet to DMX control of DMX lighting using SIMPL windows.
Module = DIN-ODE MK2 --? SIMPL Module = sACN DMX lighting =? issues = tried following channel assignments per lighting manual, did 1 channel at a time, then 512 Channels,? individual and multiple analog ramping,? assigned correct parameters in sACN module, goal not achieved. on a positive note, ENTTEC module GUI giving feedback or buffer values and chauvet lighting also responded just not the exact thing i want. tried, but stuck. need help. |
Re: MC4 Modular programming architecture
Me too. I love how we can use multiple program slots to decouple UI from drivers (specially CCD - ugh!) and other subsystems, etc... it makes it easy to have multiple people working simultaneously on a given system. Not to mention the trick of putting the Sonos modules on their own slot for rebooting purposes...
Which already makes me think, this will be the very first thing I will miss on the MC4... I can already hear what dealers will say when they learn they need to purchase an extra license just so we can implement a work-around with the Sonos modules...
