Re: need MTX-3

Hello. I have 2 open box (used in good shape) plus one for parts. 100.00 for the lot.

Problem opening files after recovering them SIMPL

Hi All,

So I've had a problem. I lost all my programs (large folder) but recovered them from the laptop and now the files won't open.

When I select the smw file to open a program it goes to SIMPL and says?

File Error
Invalid file signature, extension, access rights or filename length.
File must be a SIMPL Windows Program File (.smw)
a Project/User Module (.umc)
or a User SIMPL+ File (.usp)
Must be writeable
and name less than 255 characters long

From the error above All filenames are correct and I don't know what the file signature means

Has anybody ever come across this and maybe knows the solution to fully recovering all my files?

Thanks in advance,
Hope everyone is safe from the virus

I rolled back toolbox because of this issue. In D3 it’s almost unusable when polling cressnet devices.?

It's a bug in the current toolbox.? But yes, it's driving me absolutely crazy.?

Yes, I believe we actually have one brand new in box. ?Im sure due to its age the battery will need to be replaced though. ?Make me a reasonable offer and its all yours.

Re: 4-Series #mc4

This was covered on the webinar this morning, which should be posted to OLH soon.

Re: System design / connection software (like dtools)

StarDraw is my preference, but there are a lot of options out there.? I also hear a lot about VidCAD.

Hi all, I'm wondering what you all are using for doing system design / layouts to give to installers. Years ago when I was doing resi, dtools was common, but thought I would check in. I'm at a College now, so it's really just for building out equipment connection diagrams, not doing quotes or anything.
cheers

Re: MC4 Modular programming architecture

RMC3 and MPC3 processors only had 1, paid to expand up to 10. Never had issues with it. Most cases you only need one for those types of applications. It's cheaper to buy the slots if you end up needing them than a processor for each room and easier to manage.?

Re: A little fun project for the kids with a ST-CP Oh sure...

Thought I was loosing my mind.? I knew I had a working ST-CP.? Was running power, HDMI and serial cable to the projector and had to push a second ST-PC out of the way ( don't recall having 2 here).? Brought that one in and it connected first try using Viewport.? It won't connect via Toolbox.? I don't care as long as it works.
Thanks for the help.? Like my father always said "You can only do 2 ten minute jobs a day".

The same adapters would work on the bigger processors, just the ST-CP had problems in my experience.

Re: Sonoff switches

Hi Istvan

Glad you got it working. You?can do an OTA firmware upgrade to 8.2.0

it will do a “minimal” upgrade first to allow for this so you will have to do it twice if you decide to take that route. However, as a basic switch, it’s not really necessary.
There doesn’t appear to be any additional security in the new versions. The default, hard coded, username ?is admin and you can change the password under the “configure others” tab. But you will have to edit the sio within my module if you add password protection. I might add “user name” and “password” as parameters on the module when I get time.?

Kind regards,

Gary

Crestron "Green" Light? Cameo Packaging

In the middle of ID'ing 96 Cameo keypads.
Well, actually, probably ID them about three days from now, after I get all the packaging opened and discarded.
Does the senseless waste and packaging disregard bother anyone else?? Not to mention the labor hours just to open 96 boxes, then 96 smaller boxes, then 96 cardboard wraps, then 96 plastic bags, then 96 more plastic bags with 96 yellow envelopes inside, and 192 pieces of foam.
Bulk packaging, lots of 10, boxes with screws only, etc...are these just fantasies of mine?!
Rant over.

Also the ST-CP only supports up to 38400 baud.? You cannot use 115K baud.? Likewise, when loading touchpanels, I generally had to switch down to 19200 baud to get them to load.

The ST-CP does require RTS-CTS on the PC programming port.? COM A and COM B also supported RTS-CTS but there were some quirks with it.

I don't believe Toolbox even supports the ST-CP.? I believe you have to use Viewport to download programs.

Generally on old CNX-series stuff like this, I recommend you spin up a VM running SIMPL v1.61 with Viewport.? They use Test Manager instead of SIMPL debugger to debug it.

Or better yet, buy a used Series2 processor on eBay for cheap.? That is what I have done with the few clients I have that still had ST-CPs.

Check device manager to see what port your COM port popped in as – a lot of the USB ones will default to oddly high COM port numbers even if they’re the only port in the system (I think the Cisco USB serial driver popped in as like COM 14 or something absurd – my normal USB-Serial dongle is COM 5 just because I’m too lazy to change it)

I grabbed this because I only need to control 2 devices (projector and AVR)? I have a app on my phone for the media player.? A little overkill, but if I have to, I have the old Pro2 that came out of my own system.
