Crestron with Somfy UAI+
Hello everyone,
At the end of the last year I did an integration between Crestron and Somfy with a UAI+ IP interfase, and in the very begining it was working fine, with a few issues, but I was the wiring mainly. After this was fixed still working OK. Now, my client call me and is not working at all. I check and effectively the conection was lost. I've tryed to restart the conection (digital parameter in the module), restart the UAI interfase, the program and nothing. The group of modules of UAI+ are: * Somfy UAI+ v1.1 Command Processor IP * Somfy UAI+ v1.1 Endpoint Control I realized theres a new version? of the module, the v1.2, I was using the v1.1 but in the comments of the revision history said: "added new Endpoint Component (Limited). No changes to this module".... so there are no change in the comuniaction module. I was thinking to make the change from v1.1 to v1.2 but probably the issue will continue. The big question is, does any one have use this Somfy UAI+ interface via IP? and have you have experience any issue with it? or with any other issue? Thank you. |
Re: Uploading CH5
Lincoln, I couldn't agree more. This is one of my biggest frustrations with Crestron, both from the standpoint of having worked in education in the past and because I didn't come into programming from a computer science background. I have worked my ass off to get where I am, and now to be on the receiving end of ¡°Here¡¯s this thing that we won¡¯t teach and likely won¡¯t provide support for¡± is extraordinarily frustrating. Forgive me, everyone, if I am projecting too much onto Crestron, but for me, a lot of their instruction seems to carry the attitude of "why don't you already know this?" In any event, there's a little reassurance in the fact that others seem to be in the same boat, and also that we have a great community of programmers who tend to support each other very well when True Blue doesn't. Thank you to all of you who go out of your way to offer help and guidance.

Re: Uploading CH5
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAnd this is precisely the biggest issue with Crestron¡¯s approach on CH5 and S#. It¡¯s not a technical problem but a philosophical one.
The competitive set is talking their adopted languages (Lua, Python, etc.) and teaching them from (literally, in most cases) ¡°Hello World¡± ¡ª acknowledging that there are hundreds of ways to do something but if you¡¯re coming in fresh
here is 1 way that definitely works in the ecosystem and if you have trouble you can get support _from us_ on it. Crestron, on the other hand is saying ¡°Here¡¯s this thing that we won¡¯t teach and likely won¡¯t provide support for¡± ¡ª which I am afraid long term
means integrators with mid-tier or lower programmers are going to swing toward the competitive set where they can get training and support.
With HTML5 this is even worse than Lua or Python because HTML5 is more a collection of concepts than a single unified entity. Saying ¡°you need to know HTML5¡± is like telling me I need to know French ¡ª there are enough nuances/dialects
(Qu¨¦b¨¦cois? Parisian? Legal? Formal? Informal?) ¡ª and the level of knowledge required is likewise not well specified (do I need to be able to speak Parisian French fluently, or do I just need to know how to ask where the bathroom is in Montreal?
I¡¯m not new to HTML or CSS (I remember reading ¡°Web Weaving¡± ¡ª in dead tree form on my middle school playground in 1995...not where CSS came in but I definitely got schooled on it reverse engineering a website that formed the basis
of my wedding RSVP site)...but I know there¡¯s a ton more that are not clearly defined dependencies. The Showcase app could be useful except it does things differently than the panel (e.g. text entry field has a blue border in the showcase app, red border ?on
the panel, nothing seems to be explicitly setting it in ether and I ran out of time trying to figure out the cypher I needed to add to the CSS before I had to move on to service real clients.

Crestron knows that the HTML world is large and just like programming back ends, can be done many ways to achieve the same results. Crestron is making a simpler example program because they did realize that for a lot of programmers, their first example was
overwhelming. The more you mess with it, the easier it is to understand how it works in their panels.?Sent: Friday, June 26, 2020 10:43 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [crestron] Uploading CH5 ?
The only requirement to make it work on their TSW-x60 panels is having a reference or import of CrComLib, the rest is up to you on how you want to do your logic or make it work. Crestron will ONLY teach you how to use their CH5 Components, which are made for people who dont understand HTML at all in order to make development quick and easy. Their component work similiar to VTPro-E. Designed to take a signal and react on it and all the main logic for the panel is housed in the crestron processor. |

Re: Uploading CH5
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAfter watching the HTML5 Webinar last night from Crestron, the concept of using standard web development tools to generate our project is very appealing.? Possibly even using something like WordPress which is relatively easy to learn which I have be dabbling with for the last few months.? But what I have come to realize is the whole web stuff is very complex indeed. So many different protocols and techniques? such as html, css, javascript, AJAX, Comet, WebSockets, Node JS, JQuery, and so forth it is a little overwhelming. But what was lacking in that Webinar was the details.? I was hoping to see just a quick tutorial on how to run the example program.? You know, a "Hello World" type of program to get you started.? I plan to try out the example program this weekend.? But my hopes are not too high that I will be successful. Steve On 6/26/20 7:38 AM, Rob via groups.io

The sheer number of completely unrelated replies with suggestions in this thread is concerning.? |
I found that iPhones (and iPads) actually do a pretty nice job up-scaling from lower resolutions, so I do not miss a higher resolution app. However, I was wondering if there is a way to use the full real estate of a more recent generation iPhone. I am talking about the top and bottom areas - see screenshot. I have experimented a bit in VTPro with different device models, as well as custom resolutions, but always ended up with the limited 'letter boxed' screen of an iPhone 5 or similar generation.

For iPhone you are still better off using the standard iPhone 5 resolution they have as a setting because the Crestron app for iOS does not support retina graphics.? I believe Apple has a requirement now that all apps must support all of their resolutions, so I'll be surprised if we ever see an update to the app, because Crestron has been against providing that to us since only "Crestron Mobile" was available.? They claimed that it had to do with the amount of onboard memory not being enough on the iPhones but I'd be willing to bet it's more because VTPro would bog down to being unusable with projects of those higher resolutions.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDoubt you will find any modules to control Nest that work.? Google purposely eliminate 3rd party control of Nest Thermostats and encrypted the interface to keep people for hacking it.? Re: NVX and DANTE on Cisco 2960-x Switches
Are you assigning IPs statically or using DHCP? If you're doing static, make sure the gateway defined in Dante Controller for the 352s matches what's defined in the NVX UI (I've tried doing the 0.0.0.0 that another colleague recommended but have never seen it actually work). Are any setting populating when you pull up the endpoints in Dante Controller?

Re: How to get video and audio from a new touch panel to and old IVDS and IADS
Unfortunately, there is no option currently to upgrade all the flats, so going all digital might not work.
There are three flats each one has it own Crestron system which communicates to the communal intercom system via inter-system communication. The audio and video for the intercom are routed from the communal system direct to each touch panel. Our sales guy is going to put the idea to them of upgrading the communal system, but he is anticipating push back. |
