The link between them will only allow 1g. You can only stream 1 source/display at a time for anything on the second switch. You need a 10g link between both switches.

We have a NVX system that was set up a few years ago with Araknis switches. Yeah, I know, not ideal. The system works fine on with the NVX equipment on the main switch, the secondary switch works

Nest protect would probably do what you need. The crestron integration is a PITA, but if you install them in you main house and the back house they will notify through the detectors in the main house
