not at all. I expect that the thing to do is to embrace CEC. There is a device I just learned about that is basically an IP/serial to CEC converter. Probably a good thing. http://rainshadowtech.com/

Use a ground cheater ac "adapter" on the power cord of the PVID. 9 times out of 10 that will work. (using it for the exact opposite of it's intended purpose!)
