Atlona, that's who... Sure, there's a 'power' indicator, when the power switch is on, but no indication if it's in the on/off state from the IR remote. Stupid... ;)

I've purchased my macbook pro upgrades (new internal disk and memory) at OWC (<http://www.macsales.com>) just plug in the type of machine you have and they will recommend the proper part(s) good
