Re: Compile crashing

Deleting the SP Work folder before compiling has fixed this issue for me. I don't see it often but Clearone, DMPS3-300 and SX80 module would crash it Simpl.? Years ago this issue happed for an Extron module and never had time to dive into the real issue just deleted the SP Work folder and all was fine.

Have you tried deleting the SPIWork folder and doing a recompile-all?

it is only when I have both the Clearone and the Cisco module, if I have just one or the other it compiles fine. Also I encountered this problem when I had previous versions of both and hoped that when I put the latest versions of each (one at a time, then ultimately both) it would solve the issue but it did not. I have even installed software on a computer that previously had never had Crestron software on it and same result.

I'm going to hazard two guesses - that you'll get a crash even if you remove the ClearOne processing module.

If you comment out the Cisco module, then it compiles without crashing, right?

I have programmed about 70 Crestron jobs with them and we sell one on just about every Savant job as well.

?

The original MMS-2 had some hardware issues (hard drive, Ethernet card, power supply), which we still service, but the 'A' series have proven much more reliable.

?

As far as features and services, it's hard to beat them, plus they are Media Player compatible.? If you're selling a Crestron distributed audio system, then the price of the MMS-2A is a non-issue.

Your opinion will be very much appreciated.

Re: Compile crashing

Ok,

Rolling back either the Crestron Database or Device database various versions did not resolve issue.

Can someone try and reproduce this:

New project with:

-DMPS3-300-C

-ClearOne Converge Feedback Processor v1.7

-ClearOne Converge Dialing v1.7

-Cisco C-Series v2.6

just make symbols complete and compile and let me know if it crashes.

Re: Compile crashing

????

Ok, installed Crestron software on a pc never having had it installed before and same issue.

So to summarize:

-same code but with 2 Series DMPS: compiles fine

-with 3 Series DMPS3: crashes

- crash point is not during the same module, meaning if I compile with modules in one order (module a, b, c) and it crashes during the 'c' module point of compile (every time I try) then I reorder the modules placement to (module b, c, a) the crash then occurs during 'a' every time so I don't think this is caused by a specific?module.

Thoughts:

I think this is somehow related to the latest Crestron Database and simpl+ since that seems to be the point at which I started having issues. Back in January I needed to update a piece of code previously modified back in October 2015 that had the Crestron Password Module v1.1 and it consistently crashed when it processed that module, no matter which password module I attempted to replace it with it crashed until I replaced it with my own modified version of the Crestron Alpha Numeric Password module. I am going to try and roll back the Crestron Data base and see what happens.

Any other suggestions?

I saw reply from?oliver.hall@... and need to fix my answer.

This is the total number of analog steps that you can reach, that is from 0 to 65535.
You have to include the zero in the count.

So we have 16 bits that can have a maximum value of?1111111111111111?=65,535
2^16 = 65536 and since we start at 0 the largest value that can be in 16 bits is 65535 (giving a total of 65536 numbers).

Re: Crestron App set up questions

Yes, all of the devices pointing to the same processor would have the same CIP port (default 41794).? I'm not sure why it would be working otherwise either unless they are ignoring your port settings (or trying the default without telling you).

Thanks for this, Jeremy. Does this mean that I should configure port 41794 in the Crestron App on each of the android devices as well? Re: Vaddio One-Link, Cisco PHD cameras, and C40 question

I'm having the same or a very similar problem - DMPS3-300-C-AEC just installed, Cisco C40, two Cisco cameras connected over Vaddio One-Link units. The Cisco stuff is all existing and as far as I know was working fine. The cameras get where they are cycling on and off and the only thing that will fix it is to disconnect both HDMI input cables from the cameras to the codec.

Did anyone find a resolution to this issue?

Thanks,
David

Thanks for responding.

It looks like the entries in the log were just startup messages that resolved themselves as looking at the IP table in Toolbox indicated that all of those connections were online.? This pointed me to the program...

When I dropped the PRO3 in place of the PRO2 in my program, some of the TCP/IP Client signals got clobbered.? All the TX$ signals had to be re-entered for those symbols.? After getting those sorted out, everything seems to be working fine.? It's weird that those signals got clobbered, but everything else seems to be ok.

The only other odd thing I had noticed was that some IR devices connected to a DM-RMC-4K-100-C got copied to one of the IR ports on the processor, but I had cleaned that up prior to my initial program load.

Fortunately I had saved the old program (figuring there was the potential of some carnage...) so it was easy to open another copy of SIMPL and figure out the correct symbols to put on those TCP/IP Clients.

Now I can finally play around with SIMPL# when I get some time free.

Thanks again,
Geoff

Simpl Windows crashes on a compile. Situation is a client has a system designed with a DMPS-300-C and now is getting a new room but now with a DMPS3-300-C and other then moving from the 2 Series to the 3 Series DMPS the rooms are for all intensive purposes the same. So I did what I am guessing everyone here would do, I copied the previous code and replaced the processor updated the now disconnected routes, system/amp power, and DM Endpoint devices and went to compile only to end up with a Simpl Windows crash. Note that I can compile the previous code without issue and only after updating the processor to the 3 Series version of the DMPS do I have an issue. I have noticed at the point of the crash what module it was processing so I then commented out that module and wouldn't you know it completed the compile so I figured maybe that module was not 3 Series compatible so I replaced it with the latest and greatest from the application market. I replaced it and compiled and CRASH. Now you are going to ask what was the module... but I think it is irrelevant because I reordered some of the modules and this time the compiler made it past that module and crashed during another module it was processing.

My project files are?stored locally and NOT in a network share/dropbox/Onedrive type folder.

Hi Keith,

?

Please don't take this the wrong way ¨C on one level you are absolutely right ¨C but paying for a pro is all very well for those mega-rich people who install Crestron systems so they can sit on their fat arses and not get up off the lounge to change the TV channel or turn the lights on, but alas I'm not one of those people.

?

I installed my original Crestron system (and paid a substantial amount to a pro to do so) for two reasons, both related to the incredible benefits technology like this can bring to people with disability: first, I have a disability myself (quadriplegia) and I simply couldn't have lived alone when I was single without it, and second, I use it to showcase the latest technologies of this sort to show others what it can do and to encourage further investment in it. Given that, I am continually enhancing my system (at my own expense) to keep it up-to-date, and while I'm working full-time and certainly not poor, it would cost an arm and leg to have a pro come in every time I want to make what is often a fairly minor change (like adding an extra android device). On top of that it's not easy to find a Crestron professional who is not snowed under with work in my area.

?

I very much respect the value that professionals bring (I spent 28 years with IBM, the first five as a systems engineer which gave me the basic skills I have used to learn about Crestron), and as I well know, we all have to pay the bills! While it is no doubt not something professionals would want to hear, I have always thought that the Crestron system is way more complex than it needs to be (and of course some of the more recent alternatives, while not necessarily as fully functional as Crestron, are far easier for a relative novice to set up and manage). In particular, I find Simpl incredibly cumbersome compared to just about any other programming language ("simple" in name maybe, but certainly not in practice!).

?

Best wishes.
