Re: iPad retina display with crestron mobile G

Steve Kaudle

What I'm curious about is whether or not there's any visual benefit to
generating the VTP file at the 'retina' resolution, and/or if its even
possible for the existing MPG app to display a project created with that
resolution?

I opened up an existing tablet project and increased the resolution to the
new spec, so it's at least theoretically possible, but unless you're
running VT Pro with a similarly high resolution display, it'll be a pain to
edit.

Crestron marketing

Am I the only one that's complaining about the following: why is Crestron's marketing approach so product-driven? Most of their marketing appears to be aimed at resellers instead of consumers. Control4 (sorry for that) does target their consumers directly with video's, commercials etc. that explain what their products can mean in their daily life. Just curious, don't you guys miss that while marketing your products? I might of course have missed the consumer-targeted marketing material, if so, please direct me to it.

Thanks

Re: ATC-AUDIONET and Pandora Playback Stopping Frequently

I found my free pandora account to go a lot longer... maybe closer to 6 or 8 hours.
Is it possible you have some other problem if its stopping with in an hour?

Yes, the subscription-less Pandora accounts get paused after some period of time w/out activity. You'll need to do some kind of interaction with the stream at least every hour or so, or upgrade to P1.

I just received my first ATC-AUDIONET card and immediately upgraded to support the new Pandora features. I've left it playing in the office almost all day, and I have noticed that it just stops playing after a while. I figured that this was the generic Pandora "Are you still there?" causing it to stop, but I see no indication from the player that this is the reason. I do not have a Pandora One account. Do I need one? Or has someone figured out a trick to keep it playing continuously?

Re: Pandora on ATC-Card

There was a rather unfortunate over site in the CRESTRON programming that limited the Touchpanel keyboard to 20 characters.

It can simply be expanded by editing the following:

Name: ATC-AUDIONET TouchPanel Interface v1.1.cmc
Symbol: S-3.2.12.10.4 Full IBM Keyboard(cm)
Change parameter "Max Characters < 50, from 20 to something 50 or less

Save as a user umc file.
Replace each instance in your program of the old cmc with your new umc.
This will work for both a Simpl or SystemBuilder program, but a future update of the SystemBuilder would likely revert the progrmaming back to the old.

Either-way, you unfortunatly have to rebuild the program.
Doing it this way should prevent other unintended changes.

Let us know how you make out

crestron Event Scheduler 2 v1.2.0 filename path problem...

Hi

I am trying to use the Event scheduler 2 v1.2.0 in my simpl program, the processor is a DIN-AP2, I want to use the internal flash memory ( not the CF card ) and I have a problem to enter the correct filename and path ....

I use a serial send to fill the serial input of my Crestron scheduler filename input, but probably I've done something wrong in the way to write it in my serial send...

trough the toolbox file manager I see the Internal flash with all the folders, as far I know the Internal flash have to be named : NVRAM so my filename string was : \\NVRAM\scheduler.dat and this is not working I've got an aerror from simpl debugger ERROR : cannot create/open file \NVRAM\scheduler.dat for write - Error code : 3004

any help would be great thank you :)

Re: Android Tablet: Can I Use Crestron Mobile?

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I get the whole resolution thing. I just wanted to be sure the process was the same i.e. I could load the xml/manifest into the processor HTML like I already have 1 of the iPads, and he (pretty tech savvy) could enter the proper parameters in the Android app (LAN, Ports, Project Name, Password, etc.)

Thanks again!

Re: Trying to migrate away from D3 for lighting.

I have found that D3 Pro can do everything I've needed to in lighting projects. The key is to build a project-specific logic and/or device module to handle the custom stuff. Maybe a separate DIN-AP2 with an RSD if it's really hairy.

Re: Trying to migrate away from D3 for lighting.

For one, making dynamic labels for buttons on a touch-panel. I.E. I change preset 1 to be dinner mode, now relabel the button to be "dinner" adding in a function to allow the user to change the system time from the touch-panel is a fight trying to make a Simpl+ module to be D3 ready, Anything advanced at all takes at least 10X more time in D3.

And then how glacier slow it is to use. Granted I only have a quad core 3ghz i7 laptop and nothing like a modern fast computer, but the sheer amount of time it takes to do anything in a touch-panel design is amazing.

Yes I know vtPro is slow as is, but when used inside D3 it's 4X slower.

Daylight harvesting is also a lot harder to do in D3.

Most anything I have tried to do in regards to LEEDS certification and daylight harvesting that is the most effective is completely missing in D3.

Mac running virtual and certain keys quit working

Ok got an iMac although my MacBook Pro has done this to me as well in the past and I'm pretty sure I was running Snow Leopard and XP in VMWare on them both. Now both are Lion, Parallels and XP. In Simpl when you go to type on a symbol's line both the enter keys stop functioning along with some other ones that make it a real PITA to work, I think a reboot fixes it but it will start acting up again. I ran across a fix that was stupid easy and should have bookmarked it, I think it had to do with Caps lock or something that the press got registered but the release didn't and something get's it corrected and synced up again but I have forgot what. It may have had something to do with Multi Monitor as well, got 2 extra displays attached to the iMac figured it might be useful info to throw in. If anyone knows the fix for this, please remind me or if more info is needed let me know.

Thanks
Jason

Sorry, just saw you said you already tried them.

If you press menu, menu on the dish remote. Does it have an IR address? Maybe default is not address 1. I have driver for 1,3,and,5 if that helps.
