Re: CP4 (4-series?) program stopping after program load
What I've seen is that some threads do not get killed or stopped in a timely manner.
Where stopprog command doesn't receive "Program 1 Stopped".
Then it restarts the program, then eventually stops the program.
?
I saw 1 error log where it pointed to a gather in a SIMPL+ module that has worked in 3 series.
?
So might be better to just use console and send the KILLPROG command instead.
At this point it might worthwhile to start writing that powershell script and add a deploy script to every project.

Spinning Construct
#ch5
#construct
After installing Construct, creating a 1 Page, 2 Button project, compiled and uploaded to TSW-1060 or TS-1070, all I get is black background and spinner.
I unzipped the CH5Z and CH5, put all the files into the HTML folder of a CP3, and navigated chrome to CP3 website.?
?
I check the CH5 archive for template-page.html, there is no such file. The only thing I see is app\template\assets\img\trans-bg.png in the entire app folder.
I've reinstalled construct and restarted my computer. Maybe something wrong with the construct compiler? Is there a package I didn't install or download?
Running on Windows 10.
?
I got the chrome dev console giving me this:

Re: CP4 (4-series?) program stopping after program load
I was just talking about this a week or so ago. What I am seeing is, during the load toolbox isn't waiting for the program to stop, it says stopping program then immediately starts sending the new program. After that is when I see the program stopped in the console. I have had it take up to 5 minutes to so the program.

Re: CP4 (4-series?) program stopping after program load
Have been seeing this since the 4 series came out. They still havent fixed it. Lots of discussion on it on the FB group. I have a case open with support but of course it has not gotten any useful response aside from the usual "send us your program- we see errors in the logs from your program..." which is BS to me. Its not the program- stopprog should work no matter what is in there. And loading the same file to a 3 series and there is never an issue.? |
Re: TSR-310 - What are the actual best Wi-Fi practices?
Hi,?
yes you have the possibility to use mDNS Repeater for usage across VLANs but we try to avoid this?
as much as we can, because this can be tricky or depending on devices sometimes gives you trouble.? ?
We always put all of these Airplay, SpotifyConnect etc. devices on the user VLAN were all of those?
customer mobile devices are connected, so this kind of connections are on one vlan.? ?
Additionally we setup a Crestron vlan + a NVX/Video/NAX vlan and mostly one guest and one technical for all of the other devices of the house systems (heating etc.) Because we use a pfsense firewall we can make rules which communications are allowed across vlans and with that we open the communication for the Crestron controller within the ?crestron vlan“ to ?nvx/nax/video vlan“ and of course ?customer device vlan“ for their mobile devices. I use the same for me with Crestron Home in my homesystem. You can tell the discovery process of Crestron Home setup to check more than one subnet for devices and if the controller can talk to all of these subnets that‘s no issue. Oh of course the devices need to be able to answer so there need to be rules for the NVX devices to talk back to the ?crestron vlan“ to the controller. But if this is setup you can use different vlans for custom and Crestron Home systems.? |
Re: CP4 (4-series?) program stopping after program load
Yes. Have seen the exact same behavior. I don't know the cause though.
?
I usually do an INITIALIZE at that point. Not really sure if that is helping, but it doesn't seem to happen for a while then.
?
Or do a KILLPROG before loading, so there's no old program to confuse things.

Re: TSR-310 - What are the actual best Wi-Fi practices?
Unless you are using Crestron Home, the TSR-310s do not need to be on the same subnet/vlan as the Crestron processor.? The TSR310 doesn't do airplay or streaming.
?
Off topic, you can play airplay to other subnets if you enabled an mDNS repeater on your router. Any Ubiquiti EdgeRouter (including the $59 EdgeRouter X) can do that however you have to drop down to the EdgeRouter command line to set it up.? Not sure if Ubiquit Unifi routers can do this this although I remember see some setting to that effect in the Gui..
?
Sono will work on other subnet too contrary to popular belief.? However doing that it much more involve and requires setting up an IGMP proxy in your router.? Again an EdgeRouter can do that however it is quite involve to set up and you have to drop down to the EdgeRouter command line to implement. I doubt if a Ubiquiti Unifi router? or most other non-commerial routers can do this.
?
For other streaming devices, it all depends on the device.
?
Virtual no consumer router that I know of can act as a mDNS repeater or IGMP proxy. Certainly, I have never seen any ISP supplied router with this capability.? You should also use manage switches that can do IGMP snooping to reduce network traffic.
?
For Crestron Home, you cannot do anything this advance stuff until Crestron implements a way to allow Crestron home to work across subnets.

Kind of a side note, but I'm running a separate AV Vlan in a residence, how do you manage audio streaming and airplay? Don't those endpoints needs to be in both VLANS? |
Re: TSR-310 - What are the actual best Wi-Fi practices?
Hi,?
really interesting discussion… I want to add my experience, especially because I had one two days ago.? In all systems there is a Crestron own SSID with 2.4 GHz which leads into the Crestron VLAN. Mostly? I have this SSID only for direct connection of the laptop or tablet to the Crestron system and for remotes like the TSR-310, before TSR-302 remote.? The iPads and mobile phones are in the customer VLAN with it‘s own SSID. With that one I am still searching my clear way if 2.4 or 5 GHz. That one depends on the density for the 5 GHz network and how important the? usage of wifi calls are. In my experience these calls are pretty difficult to setup really stable for all users? with maybe different hardware. Mostly after some testing this SSID gets a 2.4 GHz only wifi.? But regarding the TSR-310, I can‘t believe there is a need to have it on a 5 GHz wifi. Maybe in bigger cities with? many foreign wifi systems, but not on bigger residences where the neighbor is far away.? But last I had an issue with one accesspoint in my living room and so I had to connect my TSR-310 to an other? one. The issue got solved and I added the ap again. But I didn‘t change my settings on the TSR-310. In the first step that wasn‘t really necessary because all my APs have the Crestron SSID, so it was connected and was working (most of the time). But I recognized many disconnect issues on my TSR-310. That one is connected to my? MC4-R Home controller. So I got the system change window many times, leading to nearly not usable anymore.? That happened nearly never before. So I did a restore on my TSR-310, I deleted the WiFi settings on my TSR-310 and reconnected it to my Crestron SSID, BUT I really made sure it is connected to the wanted AP in my livingroom.? After adding I set this AP as the preferred one. Before the other one was set as preferred.? Since I changed this, I again don‘t see this connection issue anymore. So setting the right AP as the preferred one? seems really to help but it must be the best one for this remote.? It seems if you are really sure the remote is connected to the best AP while setting up the TSR wifi settings, helps? much for stable usage afterwards.? This is my impression… |
CP4 (4-series?) program stopping after program load
Hi All,
I have noticed this behavior over the last 4-6 months. The condition seems to happen only once every 4-10 program loads with CP4 (typically the only 4-series I use)...
?
- Load updated program version
- Program loads, then shows that its has started/Initialized
- after 30-60 seconds, the console shows that the program has stopped.
- if you restart the program, PROGCOM usually shows that its the previous version that is loaded.
- Reloading the new version always works that time...
- I'm pretty sure that this spans multiple FW versions over the last year.
?
I have not seen this behavior with 3-series...

Re: CP3 - MyCrestron Registration Failed
I have had cases where MyCrestron Registration failed.?? I don't remember all the details but the fix was use a different Domain name.? Also, don't forget to reboot the processor as I don't think the new registration will work until you reboot the CP3.
?
You may also have to console? into the CP3 and execute
ENABLEFEATURE CLOUDCLIENT
as I believe that cloud service is what MyCrestron uses.? At least I have a note that this may be the case.
?
An yes since the elimination of the Flash Web GUI in later firmware releases, your have to use the "mycrestron domainname password" from a console window. |
Re: TSR-310 - What are the actual best Wi-Fi practices?
Don't know about CRPC issues because I don't use it on the TSR310.? But I wouldn't think it would be an issue as that would probably mean Crestron Go CRPC would not work too if you are on a different subnet.
?
Unsure what is causing the Rokus to pull from the NAX as I haven't been back to investigate.? But if I unplug the NAX, the multicast traffic to the Rokus stops.? Maybe the Roku's are acting as an IGMP Proxy although when I have configured routers to act as an IGMP Proxy in the past, it is for routing IGMP traffic to a different subnet.? The Roku however only has one subnet going to it so doing an IGMP Proxy seems meaningless.

Re: HD-MD8X2 questions
I've been buried with other more important issues and haven't had any time to sort this out.? The monitor I'm using for this test is a actual 1080P computer monitor with no internal speakers.? I do have a small Samsung 1080P TV that I can hook up and try along with a spare Dune HD? media player set to 1080P.? That would better represent what it's actually expected to do.? I'll try this later on today when I get home from work on my day off. |
CP3 - MyCrestron Registration Failed
Hi All,
So I have a project that we just updated last month with an existing CP3 (probably 7+ years old).?
I'm noticing this in the error logs every few days, and I'm thinking that this is an old registration left over from years ago.
?83. Notice: SimplSharpPro.exe # 2024-07-16 04:38:33 ?# MyCrestron Registration Failed - Domain Name does not exist
I would have set it up with the browser web interface way back when, and now the account or other is no longer operational.
?
Of course we can no longer manage the 3-series with a browser. Is there any way to undo these settings via console? I did search around and found the MyCrestron commands in console but it returns the following:
mycrestron ?
Format: MyCrestron DOMAIN PASSWORD
DOMAIN - sets MyCrestron domain
PASSWORD - sets MyCrestron password
No parameter - displays current setting
?
CP3>mycrestron
MyCrestron Status: Not Registered
System Last Successfully Registered: N/A
Domain: none, Password: Set
?
Any ideas?? TIA!
