Re: TSR-310 - What are the actual best Wi-Fi practices?

Unless you are using Crestron Home, the TSR-310s do not need to be on the same subnet/vlan as the Crestron processor.? The TSR310 doesn't do airplay or streaming.
?
Off topic, you can play airplay to other subnets if you enabled an mDNS repeater on your router. Any Ubiquiti EdgeRouter (including the $59 EdgeRouter X) can do that however you have to drop down to the EdgeRouter command line to set it up.? Not sure if Ubiquit Unifi routers can do this this although I remember see some setting to that effect in the Gui..
?
Sono will work on other subnet too contrary to popular belief.? However doing that it much more involve and requires setting up an IGMP proxy in your router.? Again an EdgeRouter can do that however it is quite involve to set up and you have to drop down to the EdgeRouter command line to implement. I doubt if a Ubiquiti Unifi router? or most other non-commerial routers can do this.
?
For other streaming devices, it all depends on the device.
?
Virtual no consumer router that I know of can act as a mDNS repeater or IGMP proxy. Certainly, I have never seen any ISP supplied router with this capability.? You should also use manage switches that can do IGMP snooping to reduce network traffic.
?
For Crestron Home, you cannot do anything this advance stuff until Crestron implements a way to allow Crestron home to work across subnets.

Kind of a side note, but I'm running a separate AV Vlan in a residence, how do you manage audio streaming and airplay? Don't those endpoints needs to be in both VLANS?
