Re: 1080p h.264 preview on TSW-1050

FYI

I tested this using the RTSP streaming output of a CAPTURE-HD-PRO set to
720p60 sending to an embedded video window on a TSW-1050 and it works
flawlessly. Great quality too.

Anyone tried this yet? What encoders work?

I'm going to try it tomorrow with the RSTP stream off a capture HD just

DM-MD32x32 encoded to use as previews on TSW-1050s and an MJPEG on the new

There a lot of nice options with all of these. I especially like the separate case just for your sunglasses. I actually scratched a really nice pair of mine a couple years ago which kinda sucked. I think they were 290 that I got for only 150 (Maui Jims Sandbar in black) I did work for a Vision client and hooked me up 8 yrs ago. Sadly they are now at the bottom of the ocean. Gigantic wave took them last week. Ugh! I am now thinking a new backpack for this option to keep the new pair from getting scratched.

I have seen network infrastructure issues seriously impact network performance. Has you network been tested for performance?

Re: 3rd party alternative to Crestron Fiber

Paul Cunningham

I can't speak to its tolerance for being submerged in water, but until recently we have used the Corning 006-T88-31-180-A3, which is a 6-strand plenum-rated armored cable with an outside diameter of about .5". It looks and feels like electrical BX wrapped in an orange or teal jacket, and is available in 12-strand as well.

The reason we stopped using it as our go-to fiber is the relatively high cost and the difficulty of pulling it due to size and weight, but it performs great on all DM jobs that we've used it on.

Subject: [Crestron] 3rd party alternative to Crestron Fiber

We have a project where we are running Fiber approx. 500ft, most of it through conduit for Crestron Sonnex applications and network. Not being used for DM yet, but want to insure it's to spec if it ever happens.
I don't trust the conduit being used to stay completely dry. Over time some water could leak into it. Therefore we aren't comfortable using the Crestron Fiber which isn't designed for trenched conduit applications.

The other issue is Crestron brand only comes in 4 strand and our conduit space is limited. I want to have at least 8-12 strands in there for future use, and running 3 of them, even if it was waterproof won't leave enough room for other needs.

So I have been looking for a 12 strand weatherproof bulk fiber option and having a hell of a time. To be sure, there is a ton of it out there. But as soon as I send them the spec on Crestron's Fiber (including the tested to 1550nm rating), all of these re-sellers disappear and I can't get a response.

Does anyone on here successfully use a brand and type for DM applications that is outdoor/waterproof and 8-12 strand in the same spec as Crestron's Fiber? I am looking for a solution and having a hard time finding someone that can provide what we need.

I also considered as a last resort, of running an indoor variety inside of an armored waterproof jacket inside the conduit. Unfortunately that takes up a ton of space again, much more than a bare wire would. Not to mention pulling a 3/4" fat jacket through a 2" conduit would be entertaining and not leave much room.

Any direction or recommendations would be appreciated. Anyone here use 12 strand outdoor fiber for DM with great success? Thanks!

I had mixed results using it with the FM and XM tuners. A lot of the time it just said no communication. I ended up having to go back and change those pages to the more traditional style. Basically, it just wasn't reliable.

Using the media player with idocs and the audionet card is much better.

Oddly enough, I believe the MMS works the best with media player..

Re: OT: Large project, lost of different touch panels

This is an international project, meaning the integrator, the client and myself are all different nationalities. The client has MANY house around the world. Money is not an object. They have areas where there's a V12 on the wall, TST-600 on the counter and MTX-3 next to the TV. The programming the client wants are VERY straight forward. Most touch panels only do one or two things and they hardly overlap with each other. VERY SIMPEL.

I just want to do something that will work. I'm worried there are two many gremlins still hiding in Core 3, but on the other hand the TPS-6X are on its way out.

So my options are:
1) Stay with TST-600 and do all in Core 3, except the TPMC-3SMD, and there are many of them

2) Change to TPS-6X and do all in non-core 3

Reliability is the keyword here.

Etienne

Re: Problems with Carrier Infinity Module

I'm curious if you setup your own polling if you would have the same problem If you set up polling using an OSC to check once per minute, would that continue to check and get a valid response or would it timeout as well? There might be an issue with how often the SAM board will answer back depending on how many zones the system has. I've also used the popup and on-demand polling with success, but if the system is rather large, clients who are impatient will mention it to you :-)

--- In Crestron@..., "fritzwwthomas" <fritzwwthomas@...> wrote:

I noticed that if I didn't poll the system constantly and only polled for status when a user pressed the hvac button (which was the poll status trigger), it has worked flawlessly in two larger installs that I did. I made a screen pop up that told the user to wait until the poll was complete - about 7 - 10 seconds. If you are putting a 1 on the poll enable I'd bet that's causing the failure. The module didn't seem to hold up for constant accurate feedback if left high at all times.

--- In Crestron@..., "Jeff" <jeff@> wrote:

Hi,
I'm using the Carrier Infinity module from Crestron (v2), and I'm having
one heck of a time with it. I thought I'd reach out to this group for
ideas.
Fundamental problem: The module works for a while, then stops querying
the HVAC system for information. This can happen in a few hours after
boot, or as long as a few days. But eventually, it happens. The
obvious result is that displayed data becomes stale.
When this occurs, if I do something to change the state of the system
(put a zone in HOLD mode, say), then the module will start communicating
again. Until it stops again at some later time.
Things I have tried to resolve this:
1. First occurred on PRO2. Upgraded to PRO3, no change.
2. Modified code to run in separate "slot" of PRO3 (as a separate
program). No change.
3. Put the code on a QM-RMC running older (v3) firmware. No change.
4. Went to Carrier to report the problem, they said Crestron supports
the module.

Worked with Crestron. This is ongoing, no solution (yet). I did get a
BETA version (v2.3, not on the WWW site yet), but this occurs as well.
I believe Crestron verified that they can replicate the problem, but
there is no solution as of yet.
I did recently upgrade to the Infinity Touch control, which (presumably)
allows me to use the Crestron Infinity Touch module (although, with the
same SAM board, the old module works perfectly). I can try that if
folks are having better luck with that.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks so much!
/Jeff
