Re: Anyone Got Their Hands On The UFO Yet?

Wow - this is just coming out? Wasn't it product of the year for one of
the trade shows a few years ago?

Hi all, We are expecting our first UFO remote within a week (?) or so.
(You all know how that goes sometimes!). After looking at the programming,
which is like the MLX-3, it seems like they are contradicting when talking
about the 'MenuBack' button in one place and in programming it is called
'More'. I would think of it as a 'More' button since its icon is a page
with a plus sign on it. It seems that it needs to represent more of a 'Go
Back' (MenuBack) function. Also, in one place it labels the buttons as
'Page Up/Down' for scrolling MLX-3 style, but then in programming it says
'Channel Up/Down'. So...which is it? Channel Up/Down would be nice, but we
still need scrolling buttons, right? All in true Crestron fashion, I
suppose. I am nit-picking a little and might be asking too much of the
remote, I admit. I can make it work, but am not sure that it will be clear
enough for our clients. Any thoughts or experiences?

TIA

Jay

I have started working on my first DMPS-300 Simpl Windows project. While I am not at all a fan of this piece of hardware, I have started having Simpl Windows freeze up for several seconds and then start working again. Just wondering if this is something to do with the latest version of Simpl, or is this particular to a Simpl project involving the DMPS-300?

Hi Guys

I just posted a file to the forum entitled 'Yahoo News'..this module works like a glove! ... Just pulse the 'Check' signal and watch all the news data come flooding out in a readable format.

Its based on the 'Yahoo Weather Socket' module written by 'jptnindia' and I also gathered alot of inspiration from Chip Moodys Yahoo News feed Example. I'm glad to give something back to the forum...

Re: System Builder program problems....

I feel your pain too and also like you I am a novice at programming and have had my share of issues with SB. I can only add my experiences which are as follows. I use SB for Adagio programming and have found that the most stable versions are the 11/1/2011 releases of both VPro, SB Templates and SB 3.11, keep both device and crestron files up to date.

I also found that I would have more success if I worked from a fresh install. If I updated any software (new templates or newer version of SB) it would cause all kinds of errors during the last build phase.

Hope this helps you,
Peter

I can compile all pages and feedbacks and buttons in the VTPRO program

Re: System Builder program problems....

It has been a couple of years since I touched system builder, but I remember having to open the touch panel section in the programming tree and then it would give you some option to build the panel pages. I know this had to be done before you could compile it for a complete project. Like I said it has been a long time and I have no idea how SB has changed since I used it. I had so many issues from SB back then, with it screwing up graphics on panels and I would always be able to find the bugs that would have to go to TBS and wait on them to get the issue resolved. After that happened a couple of times Simpl and VTpro is the only way to go.

Re: DM-TX-201-C Failing

Couple of failures, assumed to be heat-related. Got a couple of 2G Units going in this week, some in rings and some in floorboxes. Wondering how long the floorbox ones will live.

Hi Lincoln

Yeah I reckon ours are about 1 in 5 too, and definitely the transmitters, receivers are generally OK. I've also wondered about the life exepectancy of the 2G's in wall mounted type...

When you say "quite a few" can you break that down into numbers?

In my experience, averaged across all of the DM jobs (Classic and 8G) I've done 20-25% seems to be the average DM failure rate (either DOA or in the first 30 days) with those failures heavily skewed to transmitters.

(Most amusing failure so far: DM-TX-200 with nothing connected to it reporting valid HDMI sync [and DM tool reported HDCP authenticated video, with 24 keys supported, at 0x0 at 0Hz.] -- wouldn't pass HDMI or VGA)
