Re: CP4 becomes unresponsive in ToolBox
My guess is the Linux part is reliable -- at least if they are using a hardware platform that has good support.? It probably all the other stuff they are adding on to it that is making it unreliable.? Just look at the Raspberry Pi -- I have them running for years without issues -- never even an SD card failure.? The only thing I have to do is update the OS in them every couple? to keep the security patches up to date.

Re: CP4 becomes unresponsive in ToolBox
Yes I have seen issues after using debugger.? Had a case a couple of weeks ago where I opened debugger on a CP4 to check if a DIO input was being activate when a external relay closed.? It was working and then I closed debugger -- that is it.? This was a lightning system programmed in SIMPL.? That night the client called me and said none of the keypads or TSR-310 remotes would control the lights.? No interface could not turn the lights on or off.? I VPN'd into the system and found all the Cresnet devices and TSR-310s were online and there were no errors in the error log or in my own error reporting logic.? I rebooting the CP4 via a SSH console command "reboot" and the lights started working again.? I seen this several times in the past were debugger was acting like everything was normal yet the Cresnet devices would not respond to any signals.? Even the "REPORTCRESNET" command was reporting all Cresnet device were on line during the failure.
?
A week later I went back and found the CP4's DIO now wasn't working.? With no external connection to the DIO, the voltage on the DIO only read 0.4VDC.? Killed the AC power to the CP4 to reboot it and the DIO started working again and the open circuit voltage on the DIO was now the proper +4.5VDC.

Re: CP4 becomes unresponsive in ToolBox
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýJust to throw this out there.? I don't spend as much time, any
more, using toolbox as the majority of the people on this list
that are actively developing systems for clients.? At the same
time I do spend my time doing driver development and have to test
many of those drivers on my CP4 with SimplDebugger.? However, I'm
not seeing this issue.? I also haven't updated the firmware on my
CP4 in a while (if it isn't broken don't fix it).? I'm running
v2.7000.00052 .? Just wanted to throw this out there. Jay On 2/9/2025 2:06 PM, ckangis via

Re: CP4 becomes unresponsive in ToolBox
The slot 2 program that I've been fighting with is a test/dev program for the xFinity Voice interface. It uses the dreaded CCD/Pkg interface...
Not sure if this has anything to do with it.
Ultimately, I'm seeing the issues when I load a new compile every other time or so... |

?- So I know that with this particular round of issues, I did have Nathan's C5 Debugger open (C5 is highly recommended). I never use SMW Debugger anymore.? I kind of figured that Nathan's Dbug was much lighter duty on the processor, but it's probably the same as far as the processor is concerned... |

Alexa Registartaion
Checking to see if anyone has any advice that can help. The registration never completes. I put the system MAC address in at the portal and get the registration code, send the code in debugger and never get a registration completed. Updated everything in Masterinstaller and using the 2.0 module for voice. I have done this before and had no issues, but this system will not register. Have a great internet connection. Any help would be appreciated. CP4N is the processor.?

Re: CP4 becomes unresponsive in ToolBox
We are all going through the same thing.? You are not the only one, although True Blue will have you think so.??
This is a long-standing issue with the 4-series processors.? There have been very strange issues, other than this one, with the 4-series that just can't be fixed.? I hope the 5-series comes out soon and that it is completely reimagined.? We need to get back to "reliable" as the main focus.?? |
Re: CP4 becomes unresponsive in ToolBox
Yes, I see this daily. Not sure of the cause. Even USB connection doesn't work when 4 series is in this state. On Sat, Feb 8, 2025, 5:34?PM ckangis via <chris=[email protected]> wrote:

CP4 becomes unresponsive in ToolBox
Hi All,
In recent months I've had CP4's become unresponsive using ToolBox, typically happening when using the System Info tool but console won't work either, like if loading a program, etc.
Things will be fine, then something (like attempting a prog load) will trigger complete loss of comm's to the CP4 with Toolbox.
Can't even get a Console prompt to show up.? I even tried USB and the connection 'dings', then trying a console connection raises the UN/PW login, and once entered...Nothing!!
The Web browser pages still work fine...
Closing Toolbox/Killing ComServer the reopening does nothing.?
?
At this point all I can do is reboot the CP4...
This has been happening with current TBx and two generations of CresDB/devDB...
CP4 FW v2.8003.0056
?
Anyone else seeing this kind of thing??
TIA! |

Re: FYI, New 4-Series Firmware
I can't speak for the DSC part, but that OpenSSL bug was a nightmare when the vulnerability was found. In Crestrons defence, that was out of their hands and they've managed to hold off updating and breaking any features since October last year. I'm guessing the update was more to do with maintaining ISO compliance than anything.? On Sat, 8 Feb 2025, 3:42?pm ckangis via , <chris=[email protected]> wrote:
