Re: CEN-COM Falling Offline/Excessive Update Requests

The CEN-COM was after and before my time, it came and went while I was on a
brief hiatus from this industry so I was never up on the specs. They pretty
much killed it when the QM-RMC came out. It should be interesting to see if
this fixes your issue or at least improves it.

Mark,

It's on a 10/100 switch; but since (AFAIK) all of the early CEN-stuff was
limited to 10/Half you may have a good point.

The SHOW INTERFACES STATUS from the switch (Cisco Catalyst 2920) shows that
it had auto negotiated to 10 meg half duplex, but I'll try forcing the
configuration just to eliminate that as a possibility. (Note to self for
when I need to change it back: interface Fa0/7)

Lincoln,

2 Things come to mind. Are you running it on a gig switch? And do you have
it set to auto-negotiate? Try setting it to 100/Full or 10/Full, I've seen
similar issues like this with other Crestron Ethernet stuff.

I recently pulled a CEN-COM off my "shelf-o-random-Crestron stuff" to
use for with the serial interface for my alarm panel (with the eventual
idea
being to put it on its own processor)

Anyway I've noticed that it will occasionally fall offline (yet I can
still
ping it from the processor, and I can ping the processor from it), and
other
times it will generate an update request with every string that it
receives
from the panel.

Aside from dropping it out a 3rd floor window, any ideas to make the
thing
more stable? I realize the CEN-COM like most of the other "first
generation"
CEN-stuff has been pushed far, far, far to the side [which is too bad,
because the CEN-CN actually seems like quite a useful product].
