As did I. But Monoprice has a 15 and 17 inch laptop bags for half the price. I ordered one of each but they have not arrived yet. I cannot speak t their quality but I'd guess most of them are sourced out of China and Monoprice has good connections in China so....

FWIW, I wound up getting an OGIO Renegade backpack and just finished transferring the contents of my "seriously, it's about to disintigrate" laptop bag to it.
Thought it was going to be a bit bigger, but I did manage to find a home for everything. I like having the crush-proof compartment at the top to keep my headphones in - real nice perk.
I only wish the laptop compartment had a divider, 'cos that would have been the perfect place for documents. I put 'em in the large compartment directly opposite the laptop - which was also the prime candidate for the cable collection. Hopefully I won't have issues fishing paperwork out from underneath the cables. When I get my new laptop, I might try to see if I can use a sleeve for it and move the documents over into the laptop section...
Baptism by fire tomorrow AM as it treks into NYC with me...

I have mine from masters, but I think I gave it to my wife - seem to recall it didn't have enough structure or compartments or somesuch...
But thanks for all of the suggestions, everyone. I think I'll be spending part of this weekend comparing the features of all of these.

Agreed, love my Ogio:
Fits
my 17" HP and everything else. Crestron was handing out 15" versions of
these two years ago at masters, haven't used that one because I don't have
any laptops that fit in it. :(

Subject: Re: [Crestron] OT: Laptop Bags?
I use an Osprey Flap Jack messenger bag. Works great, fits my mammoth HP
laptop, separate tablet sleeve, plenty of room for extras, sits comfortably
hanging on my shoulder or slung across my back. There's a backpack version
as well. Don't let the odd strap color combos in the pictures turn you
off...it comes with multiple color options for the hold downs. I'm fairly
picky about laptop bags, but have happily used one of these things for the
last 3-4 years. The grey is a bit darker than the pictures suggest...after
seeing that color in person, I wish that's what I had bought (I've got the
blue one as well as an older orange model).

My current laptop bag (Targus) is starting to come apart at the seams
after much abuse on my part. Not sure if I should be considering other
makes for a replacement.
The list of "must haves" for a bag are...
- compartment for a laptop. I know that's a "duh", but if I don't say it,
others will call me on it.
- compartment - even larger than the laptop compartment - for cables,
power supply, bigger tools/gadgets.
- smaller compartment/pouch for tweakers and other smaller tools/gadgets
that would get lost in the big compartment.
- a large, flat pocket area - preferably with at least on partition - for
drawings & paperwork that shouldn't come out curled or crumpled...
Anyone have a bag or backpack that's laid out like this that they're
happy
with?
Thanks,
- Chip
