With the first pic that shows the wiper and the radio antenna, the vin tag would be under the windshield on the dash between the wiper blade and the antenna. Mark The body of one of them look in very good shape. Nice examples of comutacar¡¯s!!

Just bought a 1970 something Citicar! 8
I just bought a Citicar to restore and have a huge list of questions. I'll just start with trying to figure out what year it is. - The VIN number is 64SR1117. - The labels on the side are SV48 (it has no batteries in it) - The motor is parallel with the rear axle - It has front disc brakes. If the 1117 in the VIN corresponds to the vehicle number, it doesn't jive with some of the information I have been able to obtain. I understand the 48 volts didn't start until car number 1501 (124SR1501). Also not sure why mine has the "64" in the VIN and others have "124". Can anyone help with more information? Also, does anyone on the list with a Citicar live in the Orlando, FL area? I would love to see another one to see what parts I am missing. Other than the batteries, the only thing I know I am missing is the parking brake lever. Thanks, Harry - Orlando FL.

Posible EV Museum Display 3
All: As some of you may remember, I have been looking to set up a deal for some type of Display of our C-Cars & if possible at least one Tropica at a museum somewhere in the country. While I have nothing currently planned, I would like to get together a list of owners who might be interested in loaning their vehicles for a limited display at some time in the future!? One possibility on the horizon is working with a newly form museum to bolster their foot traffic. I have a possibility here in NJ with such an entity. What I would like is a time line display of C-Cars leading to the Tropica [or Zebra if I ever get mine in a more presentable condition]. While the display vehicles do not need to be in running condition I would like them to look as original as possible. My 1977 ¡°A¡± Model would all into this category. The list I would be looking for to contain one of each of the following: V-Coupe¡¡¡...1973 Vanguard Sport Coupe 36V DC CitiCar¡¡¡¡..1974-1975 SV/36 & /48 36/48V DC CitiCar-R¡¡¡..1976 1/2 model change w/ no "A" CitiVan¡¡¡¡.1977 CitiVan or 1979 Comuta-Van 48V DC CitiCar_A¡¡¡."A" suffix CitiCar 48V DC Comuta-Car_ A¡1979 "A" suffix Comuta-Car 48V DC Comuta-Car¡¡..1980 - 82 Comuta-Car 48V DC Comuta-Van¡¡.Postal Comuta-Van 72V DC CVI¡¡¡¡¡¡Comuta-Car (1983 Prototype) 60V DC Post Production¡Post Production &/or Home built Kits 60V DC Tropica¡¡¡¡..[Tropica production &/or Zebra1 or 2) If you would be willing to trailer your vehicle to NJ, I will start the list and use it in my negotiations with the Museum. Thank you for your time. Your questions or comments are welcomed. Peter Crisitello Crisitel@... 181 Villa Place Rahway, NJ 07065-2831

citicar conversion 2
I would be interested in what you decide if you convert to gas. I have a running citicar here in Syracuse, NY but want to look at all options. The citicar Community seems very upset at even the notion of converting to gas. Citicar ICE 7
I have a 1975 Citicar electric that I am looking to convert to an Internal Combustion Engine. This should greatly increase the driving range. The batteries only last about 30 miles round trip. I saw a guy that lives about an hour away replace his citicar motor with a gas engine and it runs faster and longer. I am wondering if it would be fairly straight forward to replace the electric motor with either a 16 HP electric start - air cooled lawnmower engine. I got a great deal on the brand new lawnmower engine, but was not sure if heat build-up would limit the run time for an air cooled horizontal lawnmower engine? I have not yet done this, so wondering if anyone has suggestions for greater range. Would it be better to go buy a water cooled motorcycle to replace the electric motor? The car is in good condition, but the range is still an issue if I want to drive 80 mile round trips. Thanks in advance if anyone else has tried a swap to a gas engine.

Gordon Dooley Tropica's For Sale.
Gordon: It was good talking with you about your Tropica¡¯s. I checked my files and I do have you listed for both Tropica #8, & #13. However, what is the Zebra Z-Car you have? I think you mentioned the name of Steve Condie, and I did have him listed as the owner of one of the un serial numbered Frame Only Tropica vehicles that was rebodied by panels made by John Neiswanger, not Zebra. If this is the one you have I list it as 4HRAA11P7SA000101; Please confirm this. I do not have any pictures of this #101, though. Each attached picture to this email is from my files of #08 & #13 and I have their Serial numbers [that I have] as the Picture Name. If you can see these pictures on your I-Phone or ANDROID, then you should be able to attack your pictures by using the dropdown menu for attach file to send a new picture, when you hit reply, I am told. My Zebra #1 is up in northern CA at John Neiswanger¡¯s shop. Let me know if this email gets through to you. Also, if possible can you send me the serial numbers of the CitiCar and Comuta-Car you have For Sale, Thanks. Peter Crisitello Crisitel@...

C-car on Youtube
Hello- I don't know how much crossover there would be between folks in this group and watchers of Simone Giertz on YouTube, but it appears she has bought herself a yellow C-car named Louise and it features in her latest video. It's at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDSEpjjavhY or just punch QDSEpjjavhY into their search box. Richard Schauer 1980 Comutacar #383

Ac12 on an 81 comutacar
As far as I know our Comutacars use the same hard to connect reverse 16 spline 13/16¡± female drive as the Citicar I would love to hook up a standard 7/8¡± keyed AC12 motor in place of the behemoths under my car today. Are there any places that won¡¯t bankrupt you that can make a love joy and adapter plate to mate these nonsensically incompatible shaft to spline combinations?
