Re: Parking brake

Why? Is the parking brake hard to find parts for? Mine works great right now, and it looks like a simple set up.

Re: Oil volume for rear differential.

I never had a issue with the oil weight in winter. I wouldn't take it out below 45 degrees anyway because I didn't want the body panels cracking. Not that it really matters but I also use a royal purple product. Also might be important to note that I use an altrax with a speed pot so starting isn't as rough as it was before.

On my Dana I used 75 90. In the winter it might benefit from a thinner oil. But I'm not changing it seasonally.?

Oh I forgot to add, I could not find a 90 weight oil anywhere so I used a 75w 90. Out of curiosity what do you guys use? I have heard some people put a lower weight in there for better range.

I have no idea of the actual amount, but with just about anything with a fill plug gets filled to a finger tip or less from the top. I think you're safe.?

I am guessing no one knows? It put 11oz back into it. Worked fine over the last 3 years and 5k miles. I think since it is splash lube anyway it must be fine. It is under no real stress and straight cut gears are strong. Let me know if anyone knows the fill volume. Thanks.

Which manual does it say that in. I have the book that was from EV performance and in two different sections it says two different things. One says fill with 11 oz the other section says fill to within 1 inch of the drain plug. I don't know if my last email went out to everybody. I posted it on a forum about a week ago and got no responses. So I think the email never went out.

I’ve used a VW beetle tow bar on mine with great success. They are cheap and readily available.

A friend of mine fabricated brackets for a tow bar so that I can tow my citicar to my local garage or where ever I need to take it.? Very simple and it just bolts on.? I'm planning on taking pics this weekend and let you know how it works in real life.

On a side note I'm looking for something to cover my citicar when It's outside.? Something like this motorcycle cover.? We've had so much rain this spring I'd rather not move the car in the garage all the time.

Re: Tow Bar for Citicar

Thanks for the info.? The garage I need to take it to is just down the road, but my brakes are so spungy I don't trust it to get it there.? Very grateful?the group exists with everyone's input!!

Just remember to tow it slowly - I’d not go faster than about 35 continuous, and never exceed 45mph. The motor will still be spinning unless the rear tires are off the ground.?

I looked into having car covers specific to our Citi & Comuta Cars made but found that the full Smart Car Cover is adequate enough to work quite well as a C-Car cover.

They even have a Bike Barn Cover that will work very well also.?

Hope this helps.?

How much oil should I put in my rear differential I have a Terrell rear axle and I use 75 weight 90 Royal Purple. The book says 11 oz and another part of the book says fill to within 1 in of top plug. Not sure which I should go buy. Last time I filled it I used 11 oz is this correct.

Re: Replacement spider for Comuta front?

I had one set that was really stuck. Soak it in PB blaster or whatever you like. Needle nose vice grips did the trick for me in a rotating motion. Then tapping in and pulling back till free. Hone up those cylinders,? polish the pistons and hope for the best? Worked for me. The fronts have a larger hole for the hub than the rears. Rears can be used if you machine the hole out to the step.?

Hi All,

Can anyone give me recommendations for the best place to get halfway decent spiders? Here are the sources I've found, first:
EVPerformance has , of course
CartZone has one that looks like it'd work for the front brakes, .
And VintageGolfCarts has (and two others, but this is cheapest and looks like it should work).

Here's the story, for anyone interested:

I finally got around to replacing the brake lines on my CCar. They look great, and didn't do a single thing for the brakes... Still, I feel good about getting them replaced--they're one less thing that could have been bad.

So: I decided to take the problematic wheel apart, and I found that I can't move the pistons in the spider, with the spider completely removed and disconnected. I grab them with pliers, hit them with a screwdriver, and nothing gives--so I think it must have rusted badly between the pistons and spiders. Sigh, more parts to buy...

I'm getting kind of tired of not being able to drive my car! Each time I've started a "simple task" with the brakes, it turns into a little miniature money-sinkhole...

Thanks for your advice or input--it's all appreciated!

When manufacturing finally stopped, Glenn at EVPerformance bought all
their parts inventory.? So if he has the part, it will almost surely be NOS.
