IPv6 3
Hi John (G8BPQ), I hope you have read my message of a couple of days ago to the list that outgoing IPv6 telnet forwarding doesn't work in the latest beta as well as the stable version. It fails to connect if I test it manually to a IPv6 only accessible tcp port. This makes that I can't forward to telnet servers who are only accessible over IPv6 or that IPv4/IPv6 accessible ports fall back to IPv4. They can access BPQ here with IPv6 over telnet, so luckily the mail flows with reserve forwarding in that way. Is there any solution to this? Regards, Boudewijn VE3TOK --- The issue with BPQ seems to be not the 'defaulting to IPv4' but that outgoing telnet to IPv6 fails to connect at all both in the latest stable and beta versions and this while IPv4 and IPv6 are both enabled for the telnet port, see below. -- I tested outgoing telnet from the BPQ node to a tcp port what can only handle IPv6 as I have a 6tunnel for IPv6 to Xnet, what is a IPv4 only program. 6tunnel converts here a IPv6 input at tcp port 24 to IPv4 at tcp port 23 what connects to Xnet. Looking for testers for an AX.25 Terminal app for iOS 9
Aloha, I¡¯m looking for a few more testers to help field test Packet Commander, a new iOS app I¡¯ve been developing. It¡¯s a terminal for AX.25 packet radio, built specifically for iPhone and iPad. So far, it¡¯s been in closed beta with a small group of operators and has received great feedback. You can learn more about the app here: https://packetcommander.com I¡¯d like to expand testing across a broader range of setups. Currently, most testers are using BTECH UV-PRO HTs to connect to node running linbpq. I¡¯m hoping to gain more coverage across different TNCs and node types. (Yes, I realize this is a BPQ mailing list, but it¡¯s one of the most active packet communities I¡¯ve found, and I¡¯m hoping to reach folks with deep experience and access to a variety of AX.25 node platforms. My knowledge in that regard is still developing, and I literally live on an island with zero packet activity.) If you¡¯re interested and meet the following criteria: ? You have an iPhone or iPad running iOS 18.2 or later ? You regularly connect to AX.25 nodes on VHF/UHF ? You use a TNC that works with iOS (see the supported list at the link above) ? You¡¯re familiar with TestFlight ? You¡¯re willing to provide thoughtful feedback and bug reports Please reach out directly with the configuration you¡¯d like to test. Thanks and 73, Georges WH6AZ

RF Path 17
Good evening Enjoying trying to get linbpq setup for aprs - Currently the only path I see on aprs.fi is tcpip. However, if I run Direwolf alone, I get an RF path frequently. I have digimap setup, and the aprs path is wide2-1, as well.

6.0.24.71 Segfault 2
John, I just noticed an unexpected restart for the #USWST chat hub. There are no RF ports on this system. The only 2 ports are AXIP and Telnet. It is a Debian Bookworm 12.10 x64 based vpn updated just a few days ago. The following is from the console. The first 3 lines are from my wrapper script but note the time is in PDT so for the moment is -7 hrs from UTC... also note that the executable was stripped after compile so I am guessing what follows may not be much help. I will rerun a non-stripped copy and if necessary via gdb if needed. ** * LinBPQ restart - 20250518200601 ** G8BPQ AX25 Packet Switch System Version 6.0.24.71 April 2025 Copyright 2001-2025 John Wiseman G8BPQ Current Directory is /home/linbpq/linbpq Log Directory is /home/linbpq/linbpq Making Directory /home/linbpq/linbpq/logs Configuration file Preprocessor. APRS-IS Stream 3
Good evening I am using Direwolf with linbpq as an APRS setup. However, not seeing the inet stream in direwolf, nor are stations populating on the aprs map from the bpq server. Here's what I have - ISHost=rotate.aprs2.net ; APRS-IS Host Name. May be either an IPV4 or an IPV6 Host ISPort=14580 ; Normal port for a filtered feed ISPasscode=8334 ; If you don't already have a passcode I can issue you one. ; ; You can specify a filter command to be sent when you log on to APRS-IS. Normally you don't ; need one. The APRS Mapping Application (BPQAPRS) sets a filter when it starts, ; and if you aren't running an APRS application, there isn't much point in getting info from APRS-IS ; ISFilter=m/64 ;GateLocalDistance=0 ;GATEDPATH 3=APRS LOGAPRSIS=1

Trying to get the latest and greatest, since it has been a while since I compiled a fresh binary on my slackware box. Sample LinBPQ Configuration 2
Good Evening All, I have been fighting to get a simple UHF node up in my town that would work as a RMS and Chat node. I wanted to share this example config file for any newcomers to this software (like myself) to have a easy way to get started, and hopefully expand onto what is in this basic setup. Now that I have something simple built, time to get my friends to pick up some TNC's ? https://github.com/N1OF/LinBPQ-Config 73's Scott, N1OF

This issue has been here awhile, but anytime one or more links are down, the links web page shows only one or two available links out of the six I have. Right now it shows two active links, but showing links on the node terminal, shows five active links. Does this happen for others? Current running pilinbpq 6.0.24.71 but the issue has been there for at least 6.0.24.30 Jim KI0BK

TCP Master/Slave question 3
John, As the TCP-SLAVE side of a connection I assumed that I would never initiate a connection. I am seeing the following: 13:35:48T N5MDT-13>N4NVD-3 Port=2 <XID C P> 2=21 3=22a486 RX Paclen=256 RX Window=7 I have different ports for AXUDP (port 1) and AXTCP (port 2.) The above line is obviously the Port 2 Monitor and it looks to me like it is a connection request being initiated by me. However, I am seeing a similar line to a well established and connected AXTCP link to N3HYM. Now, earlier today, I switched N4NVD from TCP (port 2) back to UDP (port 1) and restarted. The UDP route is stable using port 1. However, I am still seeing the above line in the port 2 monitor. So, what exactly is the XID packet? When should I expect to see these cease for N4NVD? The axipcache1.cfg file contains only port 1 connections. I do not see a port 2 cache file. Is there one that I can empty to stop these XID packets to N4NVD sooner than letting it time out on its own? Thanks -- 73, Mark, N5MDT Montgomery, Texas http://n5mdt.ham-radio-op.net:52852

BPQ is defaulting to IPv4 not IPv6 4
Presently running version 6.0.24.71 and IPv4 / IPv6 enabled as usual here. What I see with forwarding to hostnames who resolves to both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses BPQ defaults to IPv4 forwarding. I believe that this was not always the case with older releases and that BPQ was using the Linux / Windows convention, that is try IPv6 first and when not possible fall back to IPv6 - Regards, Boudewijn, VE3TOK There is nothing permanent except change Heraclitus
