SYSOP MSG TO CALL 8
Hi John, I have posted this message few months agoo, got replies about Jnso and FBB but nothing about LinBPQ. is that a way to have messages address to sysop to be redirected to a specific call? I have this in my config: bout does not appear to work. 73 de Jean VA2OM / VE2PKT On 2024-12-08 17:15, Jean L¨¦tourneau via groups.io wrote:

New Versions.
I've uploaded new versions of bpq32 and LinBPQ to my Beta site and github. The main fixes are: Fix a problem which could result in corruption of Netrom connections. Fix crash in BPQMail.exe when sending beacons to Pactor ports (bug was in BPQ32.dll, not BPQMail) Fix an incompatibility with the latest version of ardopcf that resulted in failed connections not being reported and leaving the port stuck. Tracker and KISS Port Query. 3
Hi. I have a working KISS port Query. Here's part of my PORT entry. PORT PORTNUM=4 ID=/dev/ttyUSB1 TYPE=ASYNC PROTOCOL=KISS KISSOPTIONS=TRACKER FULLDUP=0 COMPORT=/dev/ttyUSB1 IOADDR=1F40 ; for port 8000 SPEED=38400 PERSIST=64 SLOTTIME=100 1) I have query about the IOADDR. My Hex address is set for PORT:8000 Is this entry necessary or correct? The Tracker goes into kiss mode and works but I am unable to connect to the port via PCIPaddress:8000 - I am not sure if I have understood the need for the IOADDR? 2) I assume it is not possible to change the BAUD from 300 to R600 from a terminal application? Can I add the BAUD in the config, or do I need to return the Tracker to TRConfig on Windows to do that? Cheers, David

BPQMAIL crashes after upgrade of BPQ32 to 6.0.24.62 15
Hi all, I've upgraded my BPQ32 running on Windows 10 to the version 6.0.24.62. BPQMAIL has been upgraded to 6.0.24.62 as well. When I execute BPQMAIL it runs for few seconds and then it crashes. I tried also to downgrade to BPQMAIL 6.0.24.54 and the behaviour is the same. Question on RELAYAPP=BBS 5
John (or anyone), is there a way to designate a user as a preferred RMS Gateway? If the internet is down, and, When you have FALLBACKTORELAY and RELAYAPP=BBS set, BPQ could then automatically queue messages to that user and forward over HF. (with the proper forward script, of course.) Can this already be done automatically? Looking at the docs--- RMS Relay Emulation This allows BPQ to provide similar facilities to RMS Relay. If you run an RMS application with fall-back to RMS Relay set, but run RELAYAPPL=BBS instead of RMS Relay, when the Internet is down messages are diverted to the BBS, from where they can be forwarded out over any available links (Pactor, Winmor, Packet, etc) to a site that has Internet, or stored for local retrieval. I don't see this happening automatically. I have to queue the message manually, and it uses BBS protocol and not Winlink protocol. Or will setting the Use B2 Protocol only do this? When connecting to the RMS call of the HF station...the station connects to the CMS but BPQ does not send the user/pass to send the message, or retrieve messages. In fact, BPQ does not recognize the coonnect and disconnect prior to RMS Trimode identifying itself and getting to the CMS prompt. Maybe I don't yet understand what happens once the message is sent to the BBS. How can something like this be done? -- 73, Mark, N5MDT Montgomery, Texas http://n5mdt.ham-radio-op.net:52852

VHF AX.25 port as both Node and Digi - Best Practices for SCS Tracker TNC 5
Currently I have a 2m port using the SCS DSP Tracker TNC very successfully with the first config lines thus... ; SCS Tracker Port Specification PORT PORTNUM=2 ID=VHF 2m Port COMPORT=/dev/tnc-02m; COM Port Address SPEED=38400; COM Port Speed DRIVER=TRKMULTI For the moment this lets the TNC handle the user connects/disconnects, etc. and this works well. It provides access to the Node, Chat and BBS all at the same station. Fine. As this whole system will be ascending a hill to become a regional AX.25 asset, a friend would like me to consider making this port digipeat as well so it can provide the local area with some of those benefits/features. Without going too far into the process, what am I getting myself into here? Is this something as simple as an additional configuration item? The fact I'm not using this in KISS mode I suppose complicates things as I would be asking the TNC itself to handle digipeating... I think. I'm digging into the options this weekend, but if anyone has some input that would be so awesome. 73 John, kx4o https://vapn.org

WhatsPac 14
Has anyone been sucessful connecting the client to the server using your BPQ node? As far as I have progressed is Step 1 of 3: Connecting to G4OTJ's node GB7NBH. The Xrouter indicator is green. The Server goes from Red to Pink(?) at the moment I click Connect, then remains that way for the duration. I have waited for a couple of hours with no change. I get an enty in my MHeard list from my node call. The locked route entry is a different call, but I have tried my node call in there as well. The locked route never shows the > indicating a connection. Nothing ever shows in the Links page that I could see. The client (web page: http://whatspac.m0ahn.co.uk:88/ ) is on a machine on the same LAN, and LOCALNET is defined and works (no passwords ever asked.) The directions were not clear to me if the locked route is from a unique call assigned to the Xrouter or if it shares the node call. Any definitive answer for that would be appreciated. Nor was there any indication that we should choose a unique alias. Anyone else have similar results? Anyone with a sucessful connection that can give any insight? In the meantime, I will hook up a monitor and try it on the BPQ host machine. -- 73, Mark, N5MDT Montgomery, Texas http://n5mdt.ham-radio-op.net:52852

Vara HF Port and Listen 3
My Vara port works fine for receiving, as far as I know. To my node, to my BBS, and to my RMS. As soon as I attach the Vara Port either via a terminal or a forwarding connect script the LISTEN light on the Vara TNC turn yellow and the TNC ignores incoming connections. As soon as the port is Disonnected the listen light return to green and it returns to working normally for inbound connections. ;Rig Control: RADIO 1 COM5 9600 ICOM IC7300 94 00:00 7,3.5945,USB,D,VT 7,3.5945,USB,D,VW 7,7.112,USB,D,VN 12:00 7,7.112,USB,D,VN 7,7.1005,USB,D,VW 7,3.5945,USB,D,VT **** ; Vara Port PORT ID=VARA HF DRIVER=VARA PORTNUM=5 ; Optional but sets port number if stated CONFIG ADDR 127.0.0.1 8300 PTT CI-V PATH C:\VARA\VARA.exe RADIO=1 BW500 ENDPORT Anyone have any suggestions here? -- 73, Mark, N5MDT Montgomery, Texas http://n5mdt.ham-radio-op.net:52852

APRS Beacon over TCP/IP vs RF 4
Hi all- I am running LinBPQ v 6.0.24.59 on an RPi3, connected to a Yaesu FT-1802 2M rig via DigiRig Lite. I've got the BBS and Chat applications running, and the web interface and radio keying and receiving are running perfectly. I have a Telnet port and an AX25 port currently configured/ My question is this--my node is running on a 2M packet frequency, and not on 144.390. Can I keep my APRS object beacon pushing to APRS, but use a TCP/IP connection vs RF, since my single band radio cannot switch between 145.71 and 144.39 to send the beacon? I was hoping I could just do it via APRS-IS. Is that possible? How do I configure my APRS path to do this? Here is what that part of my config file looks like: APRSDIGI APRSCALL=KM7N-5 APRSPATH 1=APRS,WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1 STATUSMSG=RANCHO LinBPQ BBS Node AZ Symbol=& Symset=\ LAT=3159.14N LON=11059.12W APRSPATH 1=APRS,WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1 BeaconInterval=30 TraceCalls=WIDE,TRACE FloodCalls=USA MaxTraceHops=2 MaxFloodHops=2 ISHost=noam.aprs2.net ISPort=14580 ISPasscode=[masked] Thanks for the help! 73, Adam, KM7N

L4Compress in linbpq 6.0.24.61 7
Has anyone played with this new setting yet? On the surface, it looks like compression of layer 4 packets between willing/capable BPQ nodes? I currently have L4Compress set to 0 in my config file, until I find someone else running .61 ? Regards, Scott

I¡¯m run liBPQ 6.0.24.42 on raspi talking to kenwood 590sg, scanning/forwarding has been working fine for over a month, then suddenly stopped working. Radio cmds no longer work until I reboot system and BPQ restarts and all works again until it doesnt. The failures are now less then a week apart. Is this a known issue, is there a way to identify the cause? any help appreciated. jim KI0BK

SYSOP command STOPPORT 3
Hi, I have a PTC-IIpro on /dev/ttyUSB0 (PORT 3) on my linux node. I use this node for all RF connections to my BPQ that lives on a separate Raspberry Pi. If I use the SYSOP command STOPPORT 3 does this release the /dev/ttyUSB0 completely or does it just close the port on the BQP Port? I assume the PORT 3 is just closed at the switch. Cheers, Dave.

Risks of running BPQ32 Windows in Administrative Mode 2
Would anyone like to explain here, in layman terms, the risks if any, of running BPQ32 on Windows in Administrative mode? History: A JNOS user requested an AXIP connection to my node, a BPQ Windows install, and specifid a raw AXIP connection. Not UDP or TCP, but AXIP. I'm all for experimenting and I had never connected in such a manner before so I though what the heck. I'll give it a shot. After reading for a half hour or so I configured the MAP line and had BPQ ReRead the Config file. It resulted in and error. Error 10013 Could not open raw socket. (Or something similar) Yeah, I get that. Since Windows NT, normal users are not allowd to execute a program that opens raw sockets, which apparently is what happens with an AXIP connection. So, I shut down and restart BPQ in Administrator mode where BPQ then runs normally, the connection is made, and forwarding begins. However, even though I think that I would normally have enough protections from the bad actors, having raw sockets open is not something I have had much dealing with, outside of a LAN. On a WAN I think it presents an opportunity for the bad actors. I just don't know with any certaintity what that might be. So, anyone care to comment (other than the obvious, to not use sockets) on the risks of running BPQ in Administrative mode? On another note for John, is there a way to use something like NPCAP to allow BPQ to open the sockets without it being run in administrator mode? -- 73, Mark, N5MDT Montgomery, Texas http://n5mdt.ham-radio-op.net:52852

Looking to add AXUDP links
I am looking for interested stations that would like to establish an AXIP link for forwarding messages. WA, ME, ND, SD, LA, WY, MS, AL, SC, NH, CT mainly. Will consider others, especially if you need any assistance with your node. I'm always willing to help. Also, lost my main chat link if any current partners can get me back on the bulk of the chat network.
