Re: HF Frequencies

Maybe find some of these documents handy

14.105LSB is equivalent to 14.1022 USB but the latter has two 105 packet sidechannels and a multimode center.

40m EU and USA aren¡¯t compatible due to the different digimode allocation but that document is there as well if interested.

There¡¯s (A/F)X300 APRS and some BBS activity on 30m as well as RPR APRS. Not 100% sure of the frequency though.

Re: HF Frequencies

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Welcome Chris¡? there are a number of stations on 14.105 LSB and 7.104 LSB.? There may be other popular frequencies as well, but these are the two that I am aware of. Hope to see you on the air soon.

Good Afternoon, I am working on setting up BPQ32 on Ubuntu for the first time. I am wondering what is the normal frequency that systems are setup on in the HF frequencies. I saw someplace people are using 14.050 but not sure if that is a standard?

I ran your config here and the aprs.fi reports that your object is invalid, so I suggest you check it.

Re: Using BPQ APRS but additional object not being sent to Igate

Did you look to see if the objects show on APRS.fl ?

My objects suddenly stopped showing on the BPQAPRS Map but were showing in APRS.fl last week and eventually realized my broadcasts were not being sent out on the radio due to a bad data cable. Built a new cable and now seeing my objects in BPQAPRS Maps.

Re: Raspberry PI4 trifecta: VARA, ARDOP & Packet on one ... interface

With help from John I have figured out the PTT setup to combine ARDOP, VARA and QtSoundModem simultaneously:

?If you have a CAT PTT example of your own to share, I would like to see them to maybe include in the examples. I use Flrig as the head to all of my rigs so configuring the radio was already done via that. Not sure how many people are aware that FlRig is now supported in BPQ :-)

Re: BPQ32 Configuration for a Kenwood TH-D74

This config actually works. I had just forgotten to point the KISS TNC to bluetooth in the settings. Do that, and then turn the TNC off and back on and it should work.

Re: BPQ32 Configuration for a Kenwood TH-D74

I just realized I'm actually not receiving either. I just left the call from the example I used in the cfg file by accident.

BPQ32 Configuration for a Kenwood TH-D74

I'm trying to set up BPQ on my Surface Go computer along with my D74 so I can play packet when portable. The D74 exposes the TNC in KISS mode. I'm receiving packets but when I use BPQTerm32 to try and connect, the radio doesn't transmit. Beacons/IDs aren't being transmitted either. I'm sure my config is wrong. I've only ever set BPQ in Linux With a D710G so it may be a bit different. Does anyone see any glaring issues?

Yes, however PTT mixing with the other native Linux modems (ARDOP and QtSM) which this article is about is why there is more to it than that.

For those that can¡¯t do VOX there is a need to set up ¡°RIGCONTROL¡± parameters and HAMLIB emulation for QTSM to share PTT signaling with each modem simultaneously- John may chime in about this before I get around to doing it (although I don¡¯t need it myself but hey).

The PTT setup is yet uncharted territory for me so it is why it isn¡¯t in the documentation and also why I can¡¯t recommend anything other than what works for me at this time.

Are you sure they are house keeping reports and not WP updates? They both originate from the same process. I¡¯ve not heard of housekeeping reports going off-system before.

Windows Powershell BPQ update script (howto) #windows #powershell #bpq32

Hi folks

I wrote a very basic powershell script to get the latest BPQ beta binaries and DLL from John¡¯s website to help simplify the process of updating.
It is not a smart script, its basic but could be the foundation for a more advanced script that does version backups and so forth. However, as I do not run windows myself that is a bit beyond my scope of abilities :-)

Here¡¯s a write-up included for the list, but any corrections will be posted here:

73s
Red de PE1RRR

Simple (Windows) Powershell Script to Update?BPQ32

This very VERY basic script was created for a friend to update their Windows 10 install of BPQ32 to the latest beta releases. As beta releases by John G8BPQ don¡¯t have any identifying characteristics other than file server time stamp, the update process is as simple as downloading the latest binaries and zipped DLL from the same locations periodically.

To get this script to work on your system you will be required to enable Powershell scripts in the system settings. Follow the below menu path to locate the section containing the security override.?

Start Menu -> PC Settings -> Updates & Security -> Developer Options -> Scroll down to Powershell section.

Check the box next to ¡±Change execution policy to allow local Powershell scripts to run¡± and click Apply.

To create the script, find and run from the start menu:

powershell_ise
Clear-Host
# Edit paths below to suit your system
# Please note that the Upgrade folder is emptied on each script run.
$BpqUpgradeFolder = "D:\BPQ32\UPGRADE"
$BpqMainFolder = "D:\BPQ32"

Write-Host "Updating BPQ DLL and EXE files, please make sure BPQ is shut down first..."
pause
New-Item -ItemType Directory -Force -Path "$BpqUpgradeFolder"
Get-ChildItem -Path $BpqUpgradeFolder -File -Recurse | Remove-Item

Invoke-WebRequest -Uri "https://www.cantab.net/users/john.wiseman/Downloads/Beta/bpq32.zip" -OutFile "$BpqUpgradeFolder\bpq32.zip"
Invoke-WebRequest -Uri "https://www.cantab.net/users/john.wiseman/Downloads/Beta/BPQChat.exe" -OutFile "$BpqUpgradeFolder\BPQChat.exe"
Invoke-WebRequest -Uri "https://www.cantab.net/users/john.wiseman/Downloads/Beta/BPQMail.exe" -OutFile "$BpqUpgradeFolder\BPQMail.exe"

Expand-Archive -Path "$BpqUpgradeFolder\bpq32.zip" -DestinationPath "$BpqUpgradeFolder" -Force

ForEach($file in Get-Childitem $BpqUpgradeFolder -Recurse -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue `
| Where-Object {$_.Extension -Match "dll" -or $_.Extension -Match "pdb" -or $_.Extension -Match "exe"} )
{
Write-Host "Copying file: $file"
Copy-Item -Path $file.fullname -Destination $BpqMainFolder -force
}

Write-Host "Update Complete"
pause

Copy the contents of the script into the upper part of the PowerShell editor,?

Then edit the following lines to match your system:

$BpqUpgradeFolder = "D:\BPQ32\UPGRADE"
$BpqMainFolder = "D:\BPQ32"

The ¡±BpqUpgradeFolder¡± folder mentioned above is a temporary directory created each time the script is run where the zip file and executables are then downloaded to, the entire directory is erased each time the script is executed, so be sure not to set this incorrectly as you may lose files.

After setting the paths appropriately, use the?File?menu to save the script into an appropriate location.

Before testing, shut down your BPQ32 application, test the script by using the green Play button in the PowerShell editor. It is necessary to shut down BPQ before running the script from wherever you saved it to.
