This is all far too complicated. The whole point of both ARDC and HamGate
projects is to lower the access bar. No requirement for DMZ's or specific
routers that can do Protocol 4 or ampr-rip.

You don't need the file if you do the ip gateway setup.
If your host already has a working 44 address, just add the IPGATEWAY
configuration as per the docs should work.
