VPN can be used for many things. In this case we use it to deliver the 44net across otherwise closed networks.

This is all far too complicated. The whole point of
both ARDC and HamGate projects is to lower the access bar. No
requirement for DMZ's or specific routers that can do Protocol 4

Why don't you UK guys club together and rent
yourselves a VMS (I'm using an outfit in Manchester for work
purposes for only $6 a month). Convert that into a "HamGate" and
then VPN to it. Problem solved.
If you vpn in why do you need a 44. address?? I thought the idea
of the 44 was that it was public and anybody who wanted to could
attack/use the kit?
Once you have a VPN in the way are you not - by definition -
private?
Access to it is via either a VPN client running on
the BBS device, or a small sub $25 router ahead of the BBS
device.
Back when I ran GB7TVG the UK IP coordinator was a
bloke called Paul Taylor, G1PLT . Is it still her? Maybe you
could work with the coordinator to make a "HamGate" happen?

I have the following
IPGATEWAY
Adapter eth0
44ENCAP 192.168.1.100 <router mac
addrr>
IPADDR
****
Obviously replace your 44 net address and
mask with your allocated ones.?
The 100 address is configured as the dmz
IP in my ISP router. Which BPQ then used for 44 traffic
including the broadcasts

Steve?
Hi Steve,
?
? At the moment I am the bbs, I am not connected
to no one, it would be nice if I could
? So can you give me a copy of your IPGateway
section please, with explainable comments
?
All the best from Alan
