Re: WinRPR PTT in Windows 10

After further review, PTTMUX looked like it applied to WinRPR and BPQ running on the same Windows PC. Instead I used BPQRemotePTT on the Windows 10 PC in combination with com0com. The hamlib emulator was already in use on the LinBPQ side by QtSoundModem on the Windows PC anyway, so it was a good solution. I was able to make a connection to a BBS via 20 meters using WinRPR. The other end was another BPQ node with a WinRPR port. 73, Lee K5DAT |

Re: WinRPR PTT in Windows 10
Update - Kayne N9SEO set me straight on configuring com0com - had to check the "use ports class" box on each port. WinRPR can see the ports now. On to work on PTTMUX. 73, Lee K5DAT On Mon, Mar 10, 2025 at 8:26?AM Lee Bengston via <kilo5dat=[email protected]> wrote:

Hello Rob, You should be able to first attach to the VARA port, then set the frequency in the connect script. You can also precede the commands below with a time range. e.g. ATT 4 RADIO 14.1065 USB-D BW500 The caveat is that I don't have a 7300, so I'm not sure if that's the exact command for it. There are plenty of others on here that have 7300's, though, so they can clarify if needed. 73, Lee K5DAT

Forwarding Script and Frequency change on VARA port
What commands are available that I can send to a VARA port?
I see BWXXXX is accepted but that about a freq change or anything else
or does that need to be done outside of the vara connection
?
While I am scanning through BPQ Rigcontol that is fine but
I need to be able to do a forwarding and choose the frequency?
based on the time of day when I know propagation would be ?better
on a know set of frequencies
?
would like to use either a memory channel on a 7300?
or be able to change the frequency and set the radio to USB-D ?(Data mode)
?
THanks in advance

Re: Trouble getting WinRPR to put rig into PTT, using rigcontrol in linBPQ
I'd be curious to know if WinRPR via linux wine remains stable for you. I tried it several years ago and it behaved fine here as long as it is only decoding received messages. It is rather erratic and unstable here if used frequently for connected mode sessions so I gave up on it until the rather old s/w I was able to find is ever updated. I have no problem running plenty of other things reliably via wine including VARA.

Re: Trouble getting WinRPR to put rig into PTT, using rigcontrol in linBPQ
Ahh, ok, that explains it.? I have WinRPR running in Linux under WINE.? Seems to be working fine, as far as decoding stations and apparently running stable.? The system is Linux Mint 22 with WINE version 9.0, LinBPQ, VARA HF, three instances of Direwolf and Soundmodem, and WinRPR.? I didn't need to do anything special to get WinRPR running in WINE, it just worked after unzipping it. |
Re: Trouble getting WinRPR to put rig into PTT, using rigcontrol in linBPQ
How are you running WinRPR? I thought it only worked on Windows. BPQ has to be told when to raise and lower? PTT. VARA does this via messages over the tcp interface but WinRPR doesn't do this. It only supports using RTS on a serial interface. If you are running WinRPR on a separate Windows machine you should be able to use WinmorControl to transfer ptt commands. 73, John? Re: Trouble getting WinRPR to put rig into PTT, using rigcontrol in linBPQ
Hi John,
?
I did read through that PTT section, but not sure how I would utilize it since everything is running in Linux.? Do I need it??? I thought INTERLOCK=1 in the WinRPR port would take care of PTT since my VARA HF port has all the RIGCONTROL configuration functioning (including having it's own INTERLOCK=1 line). |
Re: Need to reset frequency on radio after forwarding
According to John's message you could alter your port config to the following:
?
?
PORT
?PORTNUM=2 ?ID=HF VARA ?DRIVER=VARA ?INTERLOCK=4 ?PORTCALL=KD7UM ?CONFIG ?ADDR 127.0.0.1 8300 PTT CI-V PATH C:\VARA\VARA.exe ?CAPTURE IC 7300 (USB Audio CODEC) ?PLAYBACK IC 7300 (USB Audio CODEC) RIGCONTROL ?COM3 19200 ICOM IC7300 94h PTT_SETS_INPUT AUX **** DisconnectScript RADIO 2 14.1050
ENDPORT ?
?
?
The Capture and Playback lines I thought were only for Ardop.? Those should be defined in the Vara HF Tnc.? Do you change those for another port?
