Re: Hardware for new node
I sat up a LinBPQ node a year ago with a Raspberry Pi 4 and Direwolf for VHF Packet. Eventually it will have a Winlink RMS but Internet is slow to show up. I also used the small UPS in the following link:

It has been working well but I do know there will be some challenges when we add VARA HF.? VARA does work with Wine and I am working out some scripts at home QTH to autostart, check for the radio, etc.

Radio is Kenwood TM-271 and a Rigblaster Plus for the interface with a serial PTT. Both were rotated out of service from the county EOC.

If you are not familiar with Linux, sticking with a Windows based computer might be easier. I think good results can be had on both platforms, but it has been a challenge for me to work with Linux. If I wasn't retired, I don't think I would have had the time to go up the learning curve. The caution with Windows is to watch out for those big-box store cheap laptops. They tend to be bloated with teaser software packages and junk that gets in the way.

Re: Hardware for new node
I run BPQ32 on a windows netbook, with a dra 50 sound mode. That supports both packet digipeater an netrom node an VARA FM for digipeating to my system from Gambill Mountain State Park. Audio device is unstable with QtSoundModem (linux mint)
开云体育I am having issues with the audio levels for QtSoundmodem. and Direwolf so I dont think it is an issue with the software per sebut the levels dont seem to stay static even after doing a alsactl store They show the values are the same but direwolf shows audio input low even though it was just fine the last time I ran it QtSoundmodem shows very little recv audio on the bar graph.. very confusing Here is a system report snippet of my audio system Audio: ? This is not the group to gripe about
RRI or NTS, but I would submit that the spirit of the "rules" have

If inbound traffic is forwarded to a
station, especially an automated station, we must have confidence
that that traffic will be handled by either delivering or
forwarding it. This requires a trust relationship, and is in part
why such "rules" exist. Outbound traffic is another matter, but I
think you are looking for inbound traffic.
But we should probably take this
discussion elsewhere.

Yes, there are rules to follow in the DTN. Refer to the ARRL Public Service Communications Manual, Appendix B, Methods and Practices Guidelines, Ch. 6, the ARRL NTS Manual, RRI's Traffic Operations Manual, and the various DTN Area web pages for your network Area, .?
