Re: Custom BBS Prompts #bbs

Oh... sorry... I missed the "specific user" part of your request. I am not aware that these prompts can be call specific. Perhaps others will chime in.

Re: Custom BBS Prompts #bbs

Hi Matt,

This is easy to do in the web interface. At the moment I am not where I can easily check which file(s) may be able to be edited manually.

In the web interface go to Mail Mgmt -> Welcome Msgs & Prompts. Options for user welcome, user prompt, and signoff should all be there to customize however you want with variable substitutions for things like name and callsign etc.

Greg, the PHP stuff is awesome for fetching data and generating stuff as you said, great flexibility. I¡¯m pleased you¡¯ve found it worthwhile.?

A nicely formatted page with hyperlinks to different sections of your station apparatus to drill down into the cheatsheet has real potential. The menus are literally only html lists, setting the ¡®f¡¯ mode first will make a page appear all in one go with original formatting, by default it pages it condensed without empty lines (a side effect of the method to generate pagination), bonus mode for slow links.

I have used AXUDP With a NOS Station once both were set for INP3, I have also used with JNOS AX.25 IP Protocol 93

To the group,

Since I am the other end of Joey's axudp link, I can answer the questions that were posed. And yes, it is an axudp link, not axip (Sorry Charles). And, keep in mind that Joey *was* able to connect over the link and access my BBS. Thus, the link has vital signs of life.

> Does the jnos box have a reciprocal udp interface set up to communicate with the bpq node on 10093?
Yes, the interface is set up and is identical to a similar working link with a bbs in Wisconsin.

> Does your node show up on the jnos box when user issues the N command?
This would be true if both ends were running NetRom. NetRom in itself is not a requirement for two BBS's to communicate with each other. In some respects, it makes life more difficult.

> What does the user get? Timeout error? Or access denied?
When I try to connect to Joey, I simply get a timeout. I should mention that I see some activity from him over the link in the j heard list for that interface.

Joey is in the ftpusers file. On one connection into jnos he actually sent me a message. So that part works.

> Also, are you allowing udp 10093 through your home router firewall and pointing to bpq box?
Not applicable since both stations are on a common, private network, the Amateur Mesh network. The Internet does not come into play with this connection.

My perspective is that Joey needs some help with permissions on his end and how to handle incoming connections. Unfortunately, I don't know BQP that well to offer him any help.

Re: IPGATEWAY with existing ampr-ripd gateway #bpqconfig #network

44net is not 44.0.0.0/8 after the IP address sale a few years ago. Current proper routing netmask is a two parter - 44.0.0.0/9 and 44.128.0.0/10

Remove the UDP 10093 from the map statement for a station connecting by AXIP.

Re: IPGATEWAY with existing ampr-ripd gateway #bpqconfig #network

Just to close out on this topic.? I got AX/IP working with alot of help from Charles, N2NOV (Thanks Charles!).? Here's what worked.

Added a second adapter to the BPQ box and assigned my 44net address to it, but did not give it a gateway.
Delete all of my 44 net routes (including the default route) as I defined them incorrectly (wrong mask)
Added a persistent route to 44.0.0.0 mask 255.0.0.0 and bound it to my ethernet adapter with my 44 net address
Updated my BPQ config to include the AX/IP link I wanted
Waited a few minutes?
Connected

One gotcha though...? doing this seems to have disconnected my UDP connection to another partner with a 44 net address.? Now I can't reach him directly.? We'll solve that by changing to an AX/IP connection.? But that is a gotcha for sure.

Thanks for all the guidance.

Why do you want to run IPGATEWAY? If it is only to allow you to access 44 NET addresses you should only need to add routes to 44.0.0.0/9 and 44.128.0.0/10 to your windows machine pointing to your 44 Gateway machine.

IPGATEWAY is needed to route IP packets over your RF links, and/or to run an AMPRNET gateway if you don't already have one.

BPQ + NTS + Winlink Client EmComm help (sans Internet)

I just realized a few days ago when I stumbled on a document that BPQ can handle Winlink traffic offline to regular BBS users.? What is not clear to me is if this would work with NTS traffic in The form of:

ZIPXX@NTSXX
SUB: QTC PODUNK NE 1?

MESSAGE TXT

AR?

Where ZIPXX is the five digit numeric US zip code,?
And the XX in NTSXX is the two letter US state code.

Any help would be appreciated As this the ¡°Killer App¡± of emcomm as it takes very little additional training for end users and is what we would need in a real world disaster.? Even sharing an BPQ32.CFG with passwords hashed out would be helpful.

You can't have ELSE then a TIMES line. ELSE is used to try another station if the first fails.

You should ATTACH the port before issuing the RADIO command (without a PORT Number).

ELSE
TIMES 1201-2349
RADIO 6 14.1065

Problem being that as soon as forward script kicks in every hour, the radio swaps frequency as the forward script states above for a few seconds then reverts back to 10.1473.

Coincidentally without the TIMES lines, it will roll through the forward script frequencies, trying the first ok.? Then when its unsuccessful on the first option, the ELSEd second option will just swap frequency and state "Port is in use".
