Bpq32 on Ubunutu server would be much more acheivable. Ive heard mention that bpq32 can be set up as a winlink server / node to offer the service to folks using winlink express. Is there a good guide on how to do this? ?
Im sure there are some relevant posts but I wasnt able to find any with some full info (perhaps my searching skills need some training) 73 and tnx DE W1BTR? |
Re: Winlink Express using Bpq32 node via RF to access mail from CMS
Acually, it looks like you are trying to access your node as if you are a gateway, and since you are not it will indeed fail.
?
It's easier to do what you want without being a gateway, I believe.? (If I am wrong then John will correct me.)
?
Comment out the following lines:
CMS=1 ;Enable CMS Gateway
RELAYAPPL=RMS APPLICATION 4,RMS,C 1 CMS,K1KSR-10,MHRMS,255
and remove everything below this line.
?
?
Now, you are not a gateway, but BPQ will periodically check your Winlink messages for you if you make a small change in your BBS User record.
?
In your own BBS User record, check Poll RMS.? In the boxes where it says For SSID's, enter a zero in the first box. (and even that may not be needed.)
Finally, enter your Winlink password in the CMS Pass text box.
Save the user record.
Restart BPQ since you changed the config file.
?
BPQ will check your messages periodically and place your received messages in the BBS as a personal message to you.? You can access the BBS remotely over RF by connecting to your BBS, or locally using Webmail.
?
?
If I am wrong about BPQ checking your messages without being a gateway then you will need to request that.? It takes about 3 days.? We can reconfigure later if necessary, and fix the other errors in your config file.

Re: Winlink in-line picture attachments dropped by BPQ BBS
John,

I have to apologize as it is the CMS server of Winlink what is doing the dropping of in-line attachments and not the BBS. I logged into the CMS server from packet to read my test messages manually and did a listing first and I? could clearly see in the listed byte size that the inline attachment was dropped, what was not the case with a normal attachment. Both messages were way within the attachment limit. I see no setting in my Winlink account how to change that, so I have ask them why they are doing that. It is it anyhow not the html code in such a message, 73, Boudewijn VE3TOK On 4/23/25 16:25, John G8BPQ via groups.io wrote:

I have not registered to be a Winlink gateway as I thought this was just for my purposes. Maybe this is the issue ?

RF port can be used to access your BBS....yes

I have followed the setup to the best of my knowledge from different sources of documentation.

Re: Winlink Express using Bpq32 node via RF to access mail from CMS
It sounds like you have already applied for and were approved to be a Winlink Gateway, is that the case?
?
Have you followed the documentation about this to create a user called RMS and set the forwarding script to RMS?
Do you have an application line with the command RMS and the connect to your telnet port?? i.e. Application 1,RMS,C 3 CMS,[call],[alias]
?
Are you using the same call on your Winlink client that appears ANYWHERE in your node? Node Call, Port Call,? or anything?
?
And, from your response it looks like an RF port can be used to access your BBS, right?
?
?
Your entire BPQ.cfg file will help, but just your telnet port config, RF port config, and your Application lines should be sufficient to determine why it does not work as you expect.? Be sure and include your call in your profile or next post.

Re: Winlink Express using Bpq32 node via RF to access mail from CMS
Yes Mark, I just want to rf into my own bp32 node (at home,) in the local area from my mobile setup using Winlink Express packet just for my personal use. The node works now with my mobile setup using EasyTerm (Chat, BBS and YAPP). I am really impressed how reliable the whole thing works.?
Winlink Express's? packet terminal shows connected now to the node but thats all. No indication of it reaching the CMS at that end. I look at the bpq32 monitor and see that CMS is connected ( green) to port 2 (Telnet). I can run Winlink Express in telnet mode from same PC as where the node is installed fine.? I don't think it is an issue but want to mention my ISP is Starlink. FYI I am using a Kenwood D710GA tnc in kiss mode for home base using a Panasonic TB with Win 10 Pro x64.

Thanks

Correction....
?
EnableM0LTEMap=1? goes in the global section, above all ports.
?
SendToM0LTEMap=0? goes in a port, above the CONFIG section to prevent just that port from being reported.
?
To not report to that map at all just done't put either of these anywhere.
