Re: X3 Flare observations 9 Feb
Hello, In light of the comments regarding the SID on 9 Feb I thought I would have a look at what I recorded. ?I have attached a screen shot for that day and I have recorded it - I think although its

Re: X3 Flare observations 9 Feb
Here are my observations of the X3.3 SID showing the characteristic 'bouncing' produced when a large decrease in the ionospheric height moves the sky wave through the in phase or out of phase point.

Re: X3 Flare observations 9 Feb
My Magnetometer is not well maintained and the recent winds dislodged my wheel barrow, but never the less I did manage to see the flare on the 9th. It must have been a fairly major event. David Farn

Re: X3 Flare observations 9 Feb
No more X-flares this morning, so that big spike does look like a local effect of some sort. John.

Re: X3 Flare observations 9 Feb
I saw a small dip on E-W but would not have noticed it unless alerted. There was a spike this morning at just before 10 am. Callum

Re: X3 Flare observations 9 Feb
The flare was very strong with excellent SIDs, but my single axis magnetic sensor does not show the SFE. It will be interesting to see how it is recorded in other parts of the country. John.

Re: X3 Flare observations 9 Feb
I saw similar SIDs and magnetic effects in Kent. The magnetic change was clear but less pronounced than in Scotland. In particular the effect on the Declination lasted approximately and hour and a

X3 Flare observations 9 Feb
The SID resulting from a X3.3 X-ray flare peaking at about? 13:14 UT was observed here on the Isle of Mull, particularly well seen on signals from DHO on 23.4 kHz. Effects also seen with the other

Wow - that bunch of reflections all over all the receivers is impressive. I had guessed last night when I saw the upper right pane with no title that it was your opposite polarity receiver. Well done
