Re: U3A Course R09 (What the Bible is about) Term 2, 2022 Enrolments
Hi Merlene, Thanks for your kind words. You raise an interesting point about what the Bible says about the specific time we are living in.? I have always been comfortable understanding what the Bible says about the "times" we are living in, but I've never thought much about anything that it has to say about the "time" we are currently in.? I'm usually put off by the focus on the event for which no one knows the date and time but the Father.? In a real sense, we are living in two "times" that the Bible speaks to: ? (1) our day-to-day existence in an imperfect world now awaiting an election between two incompetent political parties with a pre-ordained outcome if Labor wins that is different from the preordained outcome if the Coalition does.? Everybody intuitively knows what will happen if one side or the other wins, but few care enough to think or talk about it; consequently the parties take turns winning and losing.? Labor runs up the national debt, the Coalition (usually) works it off, rinse, repeat.? And of course "political correctness," sigh.? The Bible is full of little interludes like this (good leader, bad leader); it seems to be the human condition. (2) Internationally, the world is recasting itself into a tyrannical global elitist dictatorship on the one side and a tyrannical Communist hegemonic dictatorship on the other side. Interestingly, Russia is caught in the middle.? The concept of "democracy" will be largely forgotten within a few years. The resultant two sides will face off until something happens and there is a one world government (which the Bible predicts), years of chaos happen, and Jesus comes again.? Hooray! Based on what you said, Merlene, it may be interesting to do a Biblical study on today.? I'll take that under advisement. Thanks also for your comments on dates and times and formats.? Understood. Blessings, Ray

Hi Ray,
?
Like Peter, I am saddened to hear that your Thursday Bible classes will be
cancelled for Term 2 due to lack of enrolments. I find that so difficult to
comprehend in these difficult times, when we need them more than ever. What does
the Bible say about what is happening now? I’m sure there are many passages that
could give us guidelines. Unfortunately I am not well versed nor knowledgeable
in the scriptures to find the answers.
?
Re different times or days. Thursdays at 10:45 was an ideal time and day
for me. Wednesdays are completely out due to other U3A classes; Mondays and
Fridays are days I mostly migrate to and from the Gold Coast, so mornings would
definitely be out – maybe Monday afternoons, but not always possible. I do not
intend to attend face-2-face classes in the foreseeable future, especially now
that Masks are not mandatory. We need masks more than ever with Covid cases
rising, and we are in the most vulnerable group. I’m too scared to venture out
amongst people who don’t consider the health and welfare of older people and
show their disrespect for us in these challenging times. Scary at times.
?
Let’s pray that others in the class remember to re-enrol so that those of
us that are committed to learning more of the Bible are able to do so.
Blessings,
Merlene

2022 Enrolments ?
Hi Peter,
?
Thanks for your kind words.?
?
Per your suggestion, I have emailed everyone
from last term but with just six days to go I felt it important to respect U3A's
procedures.? Despite this being a Zoom class, it falls under their
ambit.? Still, good idea, I'll keep an eye on U3A enrollments.
?
Over the past few terms, a number of potential
enrollees have indicated that the Thursday date was the deal-breaker for
them.? Are there better days or times to hold the course from your
perspective?
?
Blessings,
Ray

2022 1:07 PM Good day all, Less than a week away from commencing our Term 2 classes for U3A course R09 What the Bible is About - An Informed Appreciation of the Bible, enrolment is below the minimum required to hold the course.? This has unfortunately happened to many of the U3A courses. As a result, I am saddened to announce that the course will not be held for Term 2, which commences next week. At present, I intend to resume classes in Term 3 2022 which runs from 11 July to 16 September, possibly resuming face-to-face (F2F) classes or in a mixed F2F/Zoom mode.? With your permission, I'll keep your email addresses so that I can keep you informed at that time. Since 2017, we have covered 52 of the 66 books of the Bible.? That's nearly 80%, and I have materials drafted or prepared for most of the remainder.? Please email me with any suggestions that might support the revival of R09.? I'm especially interested in any ideas on repackaging or marketing the course to help attract new enrollees and revive the interest that you and so many others have shown over the past five years. Thank you for your interest in R09.? It's been a real blessing to me. Blessings, Ray Ray Sarlin 开云体育 Links: You receive all messages sent to this group. View/Reply
