Michigan Regional Future City Competition Competition Day: Tuesday, January 21, 2025 Suburban Collection Showplace, Novi We are looking for engineers and technical professionals to serve as judges for the 2025 Michigan Regional Future City Competition. Middle school students began work on the competition this past fall. Future City is a project-based learning program where students work as a team with an educator and volunteer mentor to design a city of the future. This year's challenge is Above the Current. Students were challenged with designing a floating city and providing two innovative examples of how their city works to keep its citizens health and safe. Judges are needed to attend competition day and evaluate team presentations, models and Q & A. The role of a competition day judge is to draw on their expertise and resources to fairly evaluate the team's efforts. Training will be at 8:15 a.m. the morning of the competition, Tuesday, Jan. 21. I was told the new one would automatically turn itself on and off based on the temperature. It isn’t. It’s still running. I feel nervous about it. Should I leave it alone? Unplug it? The two weeks after this have both Xmas and New Year's falling on a Wednesday, and the group decided we should skip those weeks rather than pushing the meet to another day. At first, it simply indicated that our CO2 was higher when more of us were in the house, but in recent months, the radon levels have been more worrisome.
