Thanks, Katherine. I was thinking along the same lines. In past years, the fans self-managed, and would turn themselves off for the winter. I found a few articles, and there doesn't seem to be any clarity around off or on.

When the first fan burned out, we did have some moisture problems in the attic, so I'm worried both about having it run 24/7/365 but also about not having it run at all. Meh. OTOH, I'm learning that there's more to winter maintenance of the fans than I had ever imagined!

Re: Anyone ever had a package go all over the US?
I noticed this a lot back in the day, when I would order things from Woot (before Amazon acquired it). They shipped cheap using something called ¡°SmartPost,¡± where my order would?go in a circle around FedEx hubs and then at some point be released to the local USPS.
More recently I ordered a case for my Steam Deck from dbrand last week, that started out in Mississauga, ON, then went to Depew, NY; York, PA; Glendale Heights, IL; and is now in Detroit. I think it¡¯s supposed to arrive today.
It¡¯s like a lot of people with particular skills say: Cheap, quality, on time ¡ª you can¡¯t have all three but you can usually pick two.

It's been better this year than during the first year or two of the pandemic. Yours looks like it was put on the wrong truck by accident. I recently got a package that also stopped in Indianapolis on its way to me. It took 5 days to make it from there to Detroit and the tracking gave contradictory info about what day it actually left Indianapolis (which might mean it was put on a truck but then returned to Indianapolis at least once before finally being sent to Detroit). An extra 5 days is nothing compared to times in 2020 and 2021 when the USPS had a few sites that were black holes where packages arrived only to sit in a trailer in their parking lot for a few months before escaping.

The package itself was unremarkable in appearance when it arrived, so no scan issues, etc.? No idea why this one was so unlucky.

It could also be bugs or "false positives" in the tracking system.? What real proof do you have that it ever visited those places?? As a software engineer with 37 years experience, I don't trust the data that much.? ?It's not impossible that a tracking ID gets duplicated or data gets mixed.

I'll second Dan's observation. There was a
point in time during the pandemic when USPS was doing FedEx's "last mile
delivery." (They may still be doing this.) Anyway, I likewise had
packages make it to Detroit, but never make it here to A2. I've also had
packages sit for a long time in one place a few hours away, but never
something like Roy's experience!

It's been better this year than during the first year or two of the pandemic. Yours looks like it was put on the wrong truck by accident. I recently got a package that also stopped in Indianapolis on its way to me. It took 5 days to make it from there to Detroit and the tracking gave contradictory info about what day it actually left Indianapolis (which might mean it was put on a truck but then returned to Indianapolis at least once before finally being sent to Detroit). An extra 5 days is nothing compared to times in 2020 and 2021 when the USPS had a few sites that were black holes where packages arrived only to sit in a trailer in their parking lot for a few months before escaping.

Below is the tracking history for a package sent to me, read from the bottom up.? Three times it hit Detroit and flung to another location before finally making it to Ann Arbor.? The package itself was unremarkable in appearance when it arrived, so no scan issues, etc.? No idea why this one was so unlucky.
