Is anyone maintaining the bolster pin color chart yet?
Randy,
I am running out of town for a few days, but yes, you guys are red on red. I think we will be good on colors for a while. If we need to open new colors, it should be easy enough. Of course, we can always get crazy. Tie dye or plaid anyone? How about paisley? Later! Stop watching email for 24 hours can be dangerous. DC Z-Bend Track group had requested Red/Red just before Bill passed as well, but did not get updated. We can change the color though since we only have about 12 cars that belong to the group as group property (donated by manufacturers at big shows).
Jeff's request made me think though. As I said in an earlier post, two color/bolster pin combinations may limit the number of combinations available. But the way Jeff requested his colors "Green ON White" made me think that we could"still paint on bolster pins but do two colors, one small dot over a larger circle on the same pin and still get more combos in. Older two color combos like Green and Yellow (me) could be Green/Green and Yellow/Yellow and not have to be repainted. (with MTL pins with the hole in the middle, it may look more like two concentric rings). Not sure exactly what the matrix showing what is whose would look though. Rob, have you posted the list on the ZTrack website yet? Perhaps we can formalize the request process as well, so everyone get their choice entered and confirmed. My previous offer to help maintain the list still stands. Randy Smidt ztrack@... wrote: Jim, Red and red is open. Will that work? Or is "no paint" assumed to be black. Other wise ZTrack doesn't get all those unpainted "blacl/black" cars. ;-)
Randy ztrack@... wrote: John, We don't have a no paint option. I can give you green green if that works for you. Let me know. Rob Ztrack Magazine Ltd. 6142 Northcliff Blvd. Dublin, OH 43016 phone/fax: (614) 764-1703 Distributor American Z Line *** See what's free at . |

Rob, you should be able to upload a new file to the Z-Bend Track files section, it would just have to be a new file.
Randy ztrack@... wrote: Larry, Thanks! Bill and I also fought over the black on black cars on the layout. He also seemed to find more than I did. LOL!!!! Okay, I am updating the master. What I will do is add this to the modules pages of Ztrack since I can't upload to the Z Bend Track site. Will this work for everyone? John, thanks for sending the file! Bolster pins are the plastic "push pins" that attach the trucks to the underframe. MTL's have a slot in them (you can easily pull then out) where as the Marklin's are part of the truck so just imagine the center of the truck's frame bottom. Jeff SF Bay Area Z ----- Original Message ----

Please explain the term "bolster pins" so I can paint mine. I would like orange & maroon, since my family has some history with the Milwaukee Road. John L. Battey |
John,
The bolster pins are the two plastic pieces that hold the trucks of a car onto the body. The are rounded and smooth, so painting these is fast and easy. Using a paint pen can make the job much faster. Orange and maroon is open so I will put your name down for it. A little thread necromancy as the topic was brought up at the GTE in
Anaheim this weekend. Is there an updated roster anywhere? I would like to know if maroon and yellow is still open. Paul ZoCal --- In Z-Bend_Track@..., ztrack@... wrote: a car onto the body. Paul,
Yes, I am maintaining the bolster pin chart. Maroon and yellow is still open. I have you reserved. I will need a check for $1,000 for processing and owning this coveted space. An annual maintenance charge of $250.00 is also required. Please make checks payable to cash. :) I am planning on posting the chart. One goal is to include more module information on Ztrack.com as well as the Z-Bend Track site. On another note, I am officially retiring the Silver, Gold position. This was Bill K's and I feel this color combination should always have his name associated with it. Gee, I should have paid more attention in economics class 101. I like your plan for early retirement. I don't suppose you'd like to go 50/50 would you on this marketing plan? You see, I only charge $750.00 for the same service, and I smile bigger when I take the money..:o) I'm afraid if you don't agree to my terms, I'll have to go public with my plan and I'm sure that once folks realize the huge savings they could get with my car marking plan........well, your retirement nest egg could crack and become scrambled!!! Well, it was just a thought. Never mind, go back to your envelope sealing and stamp licking...........I'll have to devise another way to get rich before I turn 110. Happy New Year to you and all the fine Z folks out there. Loren PS. One of my main New Year's resolutions is to find more time to devote to actually working on my railroad..........a noble goal indeed!! ----- Original Message -----

I agree, Rob, I agree.
Randy PS - How DID the show in Anaheim go? Was it in the same space that the NTS this summer will be in? ztrack@... wrote: Paul, Yes, I am maintaining the bolster pin chart. Rob,
Thank you so much. Being I'm a military type your payment will be sent out promptly upon congressional approval of the funding expenditure. I ask for your patience in this manner as it takes some time occasionally for these matters to be properly routed and resolved, but please continue to reserve the maroon and yellow position until that time. :-D While I never had the opportunity to meet Bill K, I know he is much revered in the community and retiring the silver and gold position only seems fitting. ~Paul --- In Z-Bend_Track@..., ztrack@... wrote: still open.
